Overview of the Position:
The Associate Merchandiser is responsible for supporting the Merchandising team in the development, implementation and execution of direct channel assortment plans and seasonal strategies that meet/exceed customer expectations and company financial goals.The Associate Merchandiser conducts product performance analysis, competitive market research, gathers customer feedback and provides reporting weekly and seasonally to the merchandising team to inform in-season responses and future season product merchandising strategies, initiatives and messaging. He/she manages and maintains accuracy of all assortment planning matrixes, product information data bases and completes all set up for seasonal web launch. He/she assists the merchandising team in presenting seasonal product assortment direction and key product stories to cross functional teams.This role interfaces with a number of departments and requires strong communication, collaborative and organizational skills.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by an individual assigned to this job. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Direct channel Performance Analysis:
a. Help prepare historical product performance reports for each of the 3 Direct channels(Retail, Ecomm and Catalog) (weekly, monthly, season-to-date)
b. Analyze product performance to identify opportunities and effectively articulate key learnings and findings to Merch team and cross-functional partners
c. Interpret performance results, market trends to help inform and plan future merchandising initiatives
d. Aid in reviewing plans and Direct Merchandising goals and executing merchandising strategies in order to achieve financial targets
e. Monitor, track and aggregate customer comments/feedback to Merchandising team to establish and prioritize needed action plans
f. Monitor web product performance (daily, weekly) and re-merchandise based on trends, demand, seasonality, product initiatives, and inventory positions
g. Help monitor and analyze retail sales trends by region in order to identify selling opportunities and future category opportunities
h. Continually monitor product return rates throughout the season and proactively communicate issues to internal teams
i. Conduct ongoing market research and competitive analysis as needed

2. Merchandise Planning & Execution:
a. Assist Merchandise Managers to ensure that product messaging is consistent across all channels and aligns with seasonal go-to market strategy
b. Assist Merchandise Managers in the development of catalog drop assortments and seasonal strategies
c. Assist Merchandiser Managers with pre-season assortment planning for retail stores and the creation of product signage to enhance in-store experience and sell thru
d. Aid in creation of seasonal direct merchandise strategies in order to leverage success, identify opportunity, manage risk and protect current businesses
e. Assist in seasonal catalog merchandising by populating key carryover styles into catalog InDesign file
f. Participate in cross functional work in progress meetings to ensure deliverables are accurate and aligning with product strategy

3. Product Assortment Plan Integrity and Maintenance:
a. Complete product assortment planning sheets and record all relevant product info
b. Assign all products to correct categories and all product attributes prior to seasonal web launch
c. Mock up catalog assortments/spread merchandising layouts in InDesign for creative turnover
d. Review in studio on-body photography against set standard to ensure product accuracy prior to seasonal web launch

Job Requirements

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Fashion or Retail Merchandising preferred
• Must have 3 + years of experience in Direct to Consumer Merchandising in the apparel industry; the equivalent combination of experience with product line management, buying, and/or sales in the apparel industry might also be considered
• Direct Merchandising experience in vertical retailer helpful
• Strong ability to work in multiple seasons across multiple channels at any given time

Technical Skills and Experience:
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites, Adobe Creative Suites(specifically InDesign and Illustrator) and other PLM programs
• Highly proficient with Excel, reporting, and pivot tables
• Strong mathematical and analytic skills; able to prepare and interpret complex reports and information
• Consumer knowledge through direct experience with outdoor, yoga or other athletic outlets a plus
