Job Description

prAna, located in Carlsbad, CA, is seeking a Global Sourcing Manager.

Overview of the Position:
The successful Global Sourcing Manager is responsible for generating and implementing efficient sourcing and category management strategies. He or she will partner with vendors to ensure product execution and support growth, develop negotiation strategies to secure profitable deals, and lead/co-manage the process interfacing between sourcing and the product creation teams to monitor the vendor/factory performance matrix to keep them informed future sourcing decisions.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1) Sourcing Operations
- Partner with cross functional teams (e.g. Production, Product Development, Design and Sustainability) in the areas of sourcing, vendor relationships and costing of prAna products
- Manage new sourcing approval process, working closely with key stakeholders (e.g. Social Responsibility and Traceability Manager, Product Development, Production, QA, and CSC Sourcing Team) to ensure alignment and agreement on decisions
- Lead the vendor/factory performance matrix process in collaboration with the product creation teams to monitor performance and inform the future sourcing decisions
- Collaborate effectively with cross functional teams in different departments to ensure successful product launches that achieve the margin and quality goals
- Be an active participant supporting the different teams within the commercialization process

2) Sourcing Strategy and Costing
- Generate and implement efficient sourcing and category management strategies
- Partner with the right vendors to ensure product execution as well as to support future growth
- Develop negotiation strategies and secure profitable deals
- Lead the co-creation of the seasonal sourcing strategy for the prAna product line
- Research and anticipate shifts in the negotiating power of suppliers
- Estimate and apply risk mitigation techniques to supplier business with vendors
- Support the sourcing strategy, costing and margin requirements as well as supporting the efforts from other departments (compliance, product development, production & quality)
- Stay up to date with current and future global trade agreements and regulations that may impact the course of our product sourcing decisions

3) Vendor Performance and Compliance
- Builds relationships and effectively partners with internal and external partners, suppliers, agencies and colleagues to influence change
- Monitor, on an ongoing basis, the performance of the vendor/factory source base (in all 4 pillars compliance, development, quality & delivery)
- Be a leader of continuous process improvement and best practice, participate on issues or projects that impact sourcing, development, costing, production flow or other related manufacturing areas
- Drive improvement by utilizing data from available/established tools and co-lead the enhancement of the data to drive improvements

4) Risk Management
- Ensure sourcing function operates in accordance with established company policies, procedures and applicable laws, including but not limited to:
*Free-Trade Agreement
*Trade laws
*Custom regulations
*Code of Conduct and related policies

Job Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field and/or equivalent years of experience
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience in apparel manufacturing processes
- Experience working with factories globally, with emphasis in Asia
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams
- Proven ability to develop and maintain a stable vendor base
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of the apparel commercialization process and how to bring product to market while achieving margin and quality goals
- Strong experience negotiating with factories on costs and other terms with a win-win, big picture mindset

Technical Knowledge and Skills:
- Must be proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
- Full Circle and PLM experience helpful but not required
- Understanding of various machinery types and terminology utilized by factories

Travel and Schedule Requirements:
- Availability to travel overseas minimum of two times per year and domestically for trade conferences
