prAna was acquired by Columbia Sportswear Company (CSC) in June, 2014 and is part of the family of brands in the CSC portfolio, including Columbia, Mountain Hardwear and Sorel. prAna is headquartered in Carlsbad, California and operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Columbia Sportswear Company.
Overview of the Position:
The successful Sales and Planning Analyst is responsible for contributing sales data tracking, reporting, and analytics to the Wholesale Sales Team. Primary responsibilities include development of analytical and forecasting methods and strategies for assessing large amounts of data, collecting for and maintaining data files for analysis, analysis of data, disseminating data results,compiling and preparing reports on key account sell-thru, suggesting adjustments and revisions to forecasts and planning to improve sales and profitability, participating and presenting informational sessions for staff to explain sales trends, and serves as the department’s point person for accessing, maintaining and retrieving data from various online portals, preparing data and reports for forecasting, preparing ad hoc reports, collecting data from external sales reps and providing overall sales operations support.
The position interacts with both external sales representatives and internal teams including Sales, Merchandising, Finance, and Operations.
The position requires a high level of self-direction and works under general supervision. The ideal candidate must complete work accurately and timely, work well in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment, and can work with defined processes and routine while also having the ability to shift gears, when needed, when priorities change.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Analytics and Reporting:
a. Develop analytical and forecasting tools to best assess a large amount of data
b. On a weekly basis, refresh reports utilizing Excel and internal systems and disseminate information to teams
c. Collect sales data and enter and track in Excel and/or other systems
d. Monitor and report on sales results compared to goals (monthly, quarterly, seasonal and annually)
e. Update, maintain and run various sales reports including Wholesale Dashboard, ASAP/Fallout Weekly, Product Rankings, Drop Ship Report andseasonal Consult Report
f. Continuously search for opportunities, suggest adjustments and revisions to forecasts and plans based on analysis to improve sales and profitability
g. Create and prepare ad hoc reports as needed by management and sales representatives
h. Provide the most currentand relevant regional and key account sales information to internal sales teams so they can best serve our dealers and guide sales opportunities
i. Support sales team with sales data and reports in preparation for sales meetings, events and other sales-related meetings
j. Work with external sales reps to collect information such as regional product ratings, prepare and share relevant reports
k. Work independently and/or with Sales and other staff on the creation, composition, and production of reports and presentations
a. On a weekly basis, run reports to collect data from SPS portal, enter and maintain data in CSC Dashboard and Key Account Product file; disseminate sales results to sales representatives and internal team
b. Proactively problem solveissues or errors with account data submission, working with CSC
c. CollectKey Account sell-thru data fromsales representatives and SPS portal and aggregate the data to master file; distributesummary and prepares data for further deep dive analysis
d. Maintainseasonal sell-thru target file with actuals
e. Support sales team with sales data and reports in preparation for specific needs
f. Act as point person and technical system expert for SPS and NPD portals and reporting
g. Maintain seasonal data in SPS ensuring accurate ST% and GM%
h. Collect and prepare reports for analysis of quarterly NPD data. Report on findings and advise opportunities
i. Prepare, analyze and report end of season results with seasonal takeaways
j. Participate in and present informational sessions for staff to explain sales trends
k. Partner with Columbia Sales Analytics team on best methods, analytical findings
3. Forecasting & Planning:
a. Set up and prepare templates and reports for monthly and yearly shipping goals to support management’s ability to forecast; coordinateand aggregate data for team
b. Develop, maintain, monitor, and track seasonal forecasting templates and communicate status to goals such as Landing Estimate, Preseason Dealer Comp, Global Forecast and Bookings file, Seasonal Sales Manager files, Seasonal product forecasting and planning, and Monthly Sales Data Master forecasting setup
c. Lead key account inventory and demand planning with replenishment planning modeling and inventory analysis. Projects future product demand
4. Sales Operations & Dealer Services:
a. TrainSales Repson BI Center and Online Dashboard tools; work with IT on advancing the tool and problem solveany errors
b. Create and disseminate centralized sales information to sales teams to assist sales with providing additional support to reps on a proactive basis
c. Back-up dealer services team when needed compiling data for dealer’s master data product setup templates
d. Update and publish SOP’s on SharePoint supporting sales team
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
• 2+ years’ experience in wholesale apparel industry or a similar related wholesale environment
• 2+ years’ experience working with sales, or a closely related field with proven experience in creating and maintaining reports and spreadsheets
• High school degree or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or relevant field preferred
Technical Skills and Experience:
• Proficient internet skills (searching, navigating)
• Proficient with advanced Microsoft Excel functions in order to create, aggregate, manipulate and modify data and formulas in reports (especially with sumifs, lookups and pivot tables)
• Proficient with MS Outlook, Word and PowerPoint
• Ability to work with large, complex, diverse sets of numerical data and information
• Experience with NPD and SPS/Edifice preferred
• Must be able to work regular schedule of Monday-Friday (8 am – 5 pm) plus be willing and available to work overtime
• Although travel is not expected of this job, but if needed must be able to travel. Occasional travel to sales meetings / tradeshows when necessary to support Sales Management and sales representatives
