Job Description

PURPOSE:
The Applications Support Specialist is responsible for assisting in systems analysis and design and for writing, testing, debugging, and writing documentation of computer programs. Duties include assisting in systems analysis, writing new and modifying existing programs, preparing test data, testing, debugging programs, and writing supporting documentation. The Application Support Specialist also troubleshoots issues concerning various software applications both in-house and 3rd party software.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Microsoft:
• Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
• Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
• Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
• Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.

Salesforce:
• Analyze and implement requested changes to existing Salesforce configuration.
• Completes technical service requests and provides business application support.
• Creates training and documentation supporting processes related to Salesforce.
• Creating and maintaining documentation on processes, policies, application configuration and help with development of user guide materials for users as applications are developed.
• Daily administration, including logging and tracking identified system problems through to resolution.
• Data analysis, live reporting and performance management, including creating customized reports and dashboards.
• Helps research transactional and reporting issues, identifying root causes, and driving resolutions to prevent repeat occurrences.
• Manage user acceptance testing processes, which includes supporting test plans, creating test cases, enforcing protocols and appropriate testing environments and assisting with coordination of actual software testing.
• Monitors, reviews, and identifies areas within application that can be enhanced to increase sales efficiency and productivity, with consideration to the corporate vision for the solution.
• Monitors end-user usage of systems and performs daily administrative tasks.
• Monitor, troubleshoot and maintain interfaces and integrations with other systems. Participate in ongoing system maintenance and data cleansing, including de-duping, system cleanup and data quality review.
• Provides training and support to end-users.
• Responsibility for logging, reporting, and resolution of Salesforce application issues with
Salesforce.com and third party system integrators.
• Responsibility for monitoring Salesforce application permissions to ensure auditable data transactions, and separation of duty audit controls.
• Supports the streamlined application life cycle (analyze, build, test, implement, train and support) of the company’s Salesforce system.
• Troubleshooting integration issues with other core systems.

SQL:
• Apply service packs and hot fixes.
• Build/maintain database schema, tables, procedures and permissions.
• Design, develop, and maintain, and monitor a wide array of extract, transform, and load operations both among internal systems and between external systems in SQL Server Integration Services and via ETL/EAI solution.
• Develop/maintain database utilities and automated reporting.
• Establish and enforce database security best practices.
• Monitor server availability, scheduled jobs and failover.
• Monitor and verify database backups
• Perform Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence tasks including dimensional data modeling, OLAP cube design, implementation, reporting and data analysis design and delivery.
• Perform installation, configuration and maintenance of database management systems and related software within the context of a database administration plan.
• Setup and configuration of SQL Server instances.
• Troubleshoot performance and stability issues.
• Perform data imports and exports for use in other systems.
• Manipulate large data sets, ensuring consistency and data purity.

Job Requirements

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows Workstation and Server operating systems. (Windows 7, Windows 10, Server 2008, Server 2012). Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Microsoft are a plus.  
• IBM AS400 - development tools and utilities and control language.
• Salesforce administration and/or development experience. Salesforce Developer and Administrator certifications are a plus.
• SQL programming and Microsoft SQL Server experience.
• Must have experience with VMware ESX in a heavily virtualized environment.

EDUCATION:
• Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience in related field.
