Job Description

KEEN, based in Portland, OR, is seeking a Director, Women’s Global Category Marketing.

GENERAL SUMMARY:
As the voice of the Female outdoor lifestyle-inspired customer, the Director of Women’s Category Marketing is responsible for all marketing activity within the Women’s spectrum for KEEN. In close partnership with the VP of Global Brand Marketing, Women’s Product Marketing Director, Sales, Creative, Digital, Social and Ambassador Marketing, this marketing leader will direct all go-to-market strategies, positioning, and activation plans through the lens of the KEEN Women’s filter. This person is well versed in the women’s market and trends across outdoor, fitness, fashion, sports, and key influencers. The person in this role will direct all go-to-market strategies, positioning, and category activation globally with a focus on growing the brand and driving sales across all channels and platforms, including digital and social, and by delivering consumer-focused product launches that encompass all KEEN products and brand values that resonate with the female customer.

KEY RESPONSIBIILTIES:

• Strategic partnership with the Women’s global Business Unit
o Be an active, integrated part of the women’s business unit team and serve as the liaison between Product and Marketing assuring all marketing touch points have the information they need to execute effectively.
o Possessing a deep understanding of the business objectives as well as the key products and their unique selling propositions.
o Develop a 3-year marketing plan for the Category that supports the Business Unit strategic direction.

• Marketing Direction Setting
o Own global brand management and content for the women’s category at KEEN. Partner with cross-functional brand / category marketing to service the business unit needs including: PR, digital / social media, ambassador marketing, retail marketing, events, content creation, direct to consumer, editorial, and KEEN Effect inclusion.
o Continually seek out new and innovative ways to win the female fan.

• Creative Management
o Write detailed creative briefs and help manage the creative development and timeline process throughout the seasonal go-to-market and broadcast calendar.
o Protect and develop brand voice across all consumer touch-points.
o Work with internal and external agency partners.

• Category Activation
o Create seasonal go-to-market strategies within a who, why, what, where, when, and how framework.
o Develop points of view appropriate to both traditional (out-of-home, print, in-store) and new media (digital, social, PR, co-op).
o Partner with KEEN ambassadors on product input, testing, testimonials, and content, during product launch and sell-through.

• Go-to-Market
o Assist the sales teams in sales meeting and brand / category presentations, major account presentations, and marketing asset delivery at sell-in and sell-out.
o Ensure timely delivery of all marketing assets from creative marketing globally.
o Partner with KEENFootwear.com and retail marketing to win in-store and online through meaningful content and storytelling (product, ambassador, KEENEffect) throughout the year.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:
• A minimum of 7 years of global footwear, apparel, or accessories marketing in communications or brand.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field preferred.
• Experience with women’s performance, lifestyle, or fashion product categories.
• Proven leadership and people/process management skills.
• Creativity and passion for product and seeing it successfully to market.
• Ability to bridge the gap between business strategy and creative.
• Thorough understanding of the product go-to-market process and the ability to collaborate and work within the seasonal calendars.
• A track record creating marketing programs targeted toward millennials.
• Strong understanding of competitive set.
• Demonstrates ability to independently utilize resources to increase knowledge
• Proven ability to successfully work in a lean, entrepreneurial, highly cross-functional matrix environment.
• Knowledge of global and regional performance and style trends.
• A thorough understanding of global marketing trends, tools, technologies, platforms, and best practices.
• Strong organizational, analytical and time management skills.
• Inspirational presentation/speaking skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel. Power Point, Word)
• Experience directing multiple projects with competing resources and deadlines.
• A passion for the outdoor enthusiast lifestyle.
