Your Job:

You will have a solid technical background in the manufacture and processing of ethyl vinyl acetates (EVA), polyurethanes (PU), and rubber compounds, as well as other bottom unit materials that are used in the footwear industry. Additionally, you will understand the chemicals and processes used in footwear construction and assembly, ranging from inks and paints to primers and cements. You must be able to effectively engage in the development process of new and exciting Brooks products. With direction from your manager, you will use your technical knowledge to help execute innovative material and engineering solutions that enable the company to meet manufacturing deadlines while maintaining the craftsmanship, quality and performance attributes that has made Brooks the world’s leading manufacturer of performance running footwear.

Your Responsibilities:

· Provide technical expertise to organize, process, and report on new project trials, at both vendor and factory partner locations. Act as an Engineering resource for inline development.

· Lead and manage the technical aspects of the Process Flow Chart to ensure a smooth transition to manufacturing of the final product.

· Work with Innovation, development, and production teams to evaluate new product readiness. With direction from Senior Engineer or Engineering manager, drive implement new processes and technologies into production.

· Drive compliance to established Brooks Best Practices in working collaboratively with the development, commercialization, engineering, and Lean teams

· Continually seek solutions to engineering and manufacturing issues. Coach & mentor colleagues. Assist in training for Brooks production teams and factory personnel.

· This position will work closely with Brooks and factory engineering and production teams resolving project, process, and operations related issues on the factory floor.

· Work with vendor and factory partners to achieve Brooks’ Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility goals

· Must be able to solve bonding issues and confirm the results to ensure stable operations.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related science or equivalent experience

· 3 years+ footwear manufacturing experience, preferably as a manufacturing manager, engineer, or technician.

· Must be able to manage Tier 1, 2, and 3 vendors and monitor and report on projects.

· Must be fluent in English (writing and speaking) and able to communicate clearly with Brooks Asia and USA based teams.

· Good knowledge in bottom unit compound processing and testing.

· Good knowledge in shoe adhesive, bonding, printing, and coating processes.

· Expert knowledge of test methods and protocols used in materials, components and finished shoe testing.

· Understanding and application of Designed Experiments, root cause analysis, and Lean manufacturing.

· Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

· Passionate participation in Brooks’ sports activities a plus, ability to understand and empathize with the runner in order to develop loyal, engaging relationships with our customers and the Brooks community.

· Travel up to 25% (domestic / international)
