Your Job:

The primary responsibility of the Apparel Developer is the successful commercialization of assigned styles from design sign off to production. The Apparel Developer will lead thought on creative and innovative problem solving to create concepts and a technical tool box to support the development of new styles. You evaluate samples for fit, measurement, construction and functionality to ensure design resolution. Working closely with the Apparel Team, the Apparel Developer will manage new styles from concept to production, utilizing insights and wear testing data to ensure the garment performance is in line with the product brief and design intent. This role will be a positive driving force in the product creation process and impacts business results through cost, quality and product performance.

Responsibilities:
! Drive the development of product from design concept through production in order to meet the development calendar.
! Research manufacturing techniques, new technologies and attend consumer facing events to ensure that products incorporate the functional and aesthetic needs our consumers demand.
! Build and maintain technical tool box as a resource for design and development to employ in season when relevant to design intent and/or product brief.
! Utilize advanced technical garment construction skills and experience in building sewing operations (SOPs) by providing feedback during fit, materials selection process and testing review.
! Partner with PLM, Design and Development Team (Triad) to evaluate design and technical direction and problem solve to provide workable solutions.
! Negotiate cost with manufacturing partners and evaluate the BOM to make informed decisions to favorably impact margin.
! Use working knowledge of body shapes and how shape affects fit to influence development decisions and deliver effective outcomes in fit, feel and ride and a distraction free consumer experience.
! Lead fit sessions to ensure appropriate corrections are made as it relates to construction/specs and quality.
! Partner with Pattern Maker to make revisions and/or drive our manufacturing partners to revise fit and pattern to meet the requirements of a specific design and/or function.
! Use in-depth knowledge of a block system and understanding of grade rules to maintain consistency in fit.
! Utilize fit model database to schedule fittings and support the wear testing process by supplying tech packs, facilitating wear test samples internally and/or externally and passing to the PAT team.
! Display innovation and demonstrate initiative in improving products and processes while also displaying an ability to collaborate and create change.
! Act as a primary point of contact with the garment vendors in the development process of prototypes, sampling, mock ups, testing, size runs, and commercial approvals to ensure on time seasonal delivery.
! Participate in International and Domestic development trips, two times per year, to work with manufacturers and suppliers on existing and current development projects.

Qualifications:
! 5+ years of experience predominately in Apparel Development in Active/Sports but may be inclusive of Development, PLM, Design, Technical Design, Merchandising for preferably active categories.
! Educational experience to include a bachelor’s degree in apparel development, design textiles or related field; may be substituted with relevant experience.
! Clearly understands and communicates how decisions affect technical construction, body shape/use in fit, feasibility and their impact to our customers, our partners or other departments operations and/or morale, "connecting the dots".
! Keen attention to detail in planning, organization and execution of tasks and understanding how all the pieces fit together and affect one another.
! Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating effective listening through concise, clear verbal and written communication.
! Excellent interpersonal skills that inspire and build trust resulting in effective working relationships across the company.
! Computer proficiency with a PDM system a must. Must also have working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Office
! Prior working knowledge of using 3D software in pattern, component and design development [Apparel specific software] a plus.
