The SMU Footwear Developer executes and drives the SMU footwear development process, utilizing process and product knowledge. They will work with a cross-functional product creation team from the collection of insights through commercialization to deliver products that exceed consumer expectations. Must have solid knowledge of the total footwear development and production process. This includes creating and managing product creation calendars, in collaboration with our merchandising team to achieve our SMU product delivery for each customer. Solid project management skills are expected in order to manage the requests coming in for product execution across various intro dates. Knowledge in construction process including: outsole/midsole drawing, pattern engineering, material construction and properties, and costing is also expected. Other critical responsibilities include understanding manufacturing capabilities, anticipating issues, problem solving, and timely resolution. They will be responsible for generating ideas around engineering principles that enhance product performance, product value, and communicate them across the product teams.

Responsibilities:
! Plan, coordinate and execute multiple projects from Insights gathering to Brief Stage, through Design, Development, Costing, and into Commercialization
! Create and execute multiple project (SMU) calendars to meet delivery and business needs.
! Partner with your manager to plan project development according to the seasonal critical dates that lead to on–time delivery of sales samples and production confirmation; execute project plan.
! Manage lower level developers including their training, growth and project execution plans.
! Knowledge of the manufacturing process with the ability to contribute to ideas which will enhance the overall performance of product.
! Participate in meetings which guide design and development personnel to ensure that designs are manufacturable and meet cost and quality objectives of the organization and meet Brooks Fit, Feel, Ride objectives.
! Critique, adjust and evaluate technical blueprints (outsole/ midsole/ upper), upper patterns and materials from a performance, manufacturing, and functional perspective.
! Collaborate with materials team on execution of material development to drive forward key project; meeting Brooks fit, feel, ride objectives.
! Participate in Asia development trips to work with manufacturers and suppliers on existing and current development projects.
! Participate in account visits as needed domestic and international.

Qualifications:
! Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Design, Biomechanics or other applicable technical degrees.
! 5+ years of experience in a footwear development role, athletic/running experience preferred
! Proven ability to create and maintain product creation calendar. Solid project management skills.
! Knowledge of footwear pattern engineering and manufacturing processes to ensure products meet the specific quality standards.
! Experience with footwear product development, process, project management, costing and manufacturing of product from conception to retail.
! Experience leading and influencing in a collaborative, cross-functional group without command/ control to meet strategic objectives.
! Experience working with diverse teams from various disciplines and cultural backgrounds resulting in effective working relationships across the company
! Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an advanced ability to communicate new ideas, concepts and functional expertise within project teams and to external stakeholders.
! Keen attention to detail in planning, organization and execution of tasks (self and through others), while still seeing the big picture and understanding how all of the pieces fit together and affect one another.
! Ability to anticipate how a decision made can affect our customers, our partners, our products or other departments’ operations and/or morale; “connecting the dots.”
! Previous experience mentoring team members. Solid people management skills.
! Curious and open minded; always open for a challenge, inventive, creative. With the ability to challenge the status quo – always looking at improving our products and processes while also displaying a willingness to dive into the details.
! Strong computer skills including experience with Illustrator, MS Office software, PLM software. Knowledge of FLEX a bonus.
! Proven ability to lead and influence in collaborative, team oriented and complex global environments.
