Apparel Technical Designer Job in Torrance, CA

Civil Clothing Inc. is seeking a talented Graphic Technical Designer with relevant experience and skills to join our team of design professionals. We are looking for a motivated candidate, who is adaptable, flexible, and self-starter in a fast-pace environment. You will be partnering and assisting the Design Manager and his team, collaborate on numerous projects simultaneously, while maintaining high level of details and meeting aggressive deadlines. In this role, you will be working with other departments to ensure productions are completed in a timely fashion. The Graphic Technical Designer is responsible for the day to day efficient operation of the Design department and are responsible for but not limited to:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work with Designers to develop the fit and specification for the prototype sample, formulate corrections and provide solutions as appropriate
• Review protos vs. tech packs for key measurements and constructions
• Conduct fit sessions on live models, review overall fit, and confirm all details of the garment
• Responsible for fit and construction integrity
• Establish specifications and construction requirements for each garment type as per standards
• Review and revise spec sheets to confirm their accuracy
• Organize workflow based on delivery and production time and action calendar
• Maintain library of approved samples and patterns
• Communicate fit revisions and comments to vendors in a technical package format
• Approve fit and construction for each fit sample
• Accurately size all graphics, check color and spelling
• Strong graphic foundation, must also take design direction well
• Self motivated and able to create original ideas
• Help make tech packs when needed, also asking style numbers when needed
• Ensure that all art and spelling is correct and is not copy written
• Work with design team to achieve goals and hit deadlines
• Work on request from upper management when help is needed
• Help with graphic edits and updates per request

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook or related software
• Extensive knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator & Photoshop)
• Intermediate Computer Drawing skills for technical and construction detail sketches & related art using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills with emphasis on MS Office software & PLM Systems
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, a people person with positive attitude
• Outstanding organizational skills and attention to details
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong illustration and typography skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
• Must demonstrate ownership & responsibility to run the operation with a sense of urgency

• Ability to function well and must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously within a very fast paced environment
• High level of creativity
• Must have strong understanding of tech packs set-up
• Well versed in understanding printing techniques
• Ability to pay close attention to detail and coordinate various activities simultaneously
• Ability to communicate and work well with co-workers, and business contacts in a courteous and professional manner
• International and domestic travel required (up to 20%) including by air, ground and overnight and working after hours and weekend when necessary
