Job Description

evo is in search of a .Net Developer to join the team in Seattle, WA.

About evo //
evo Vision: Make Lives Better. evo strives to make lives better by crafting elevated customer and employee experiences, fostering human connection and igniting passions, while leveraging our success to give back. evo is a leading multi-channel retail brand that stands at the intersection of community, commerce, action sports and the outdoor lifestyle. This position is exemplified by a distinctly curated product assortment and a creative approach to crafting highly differentiated customer experiences. We define “success” differently than most. Balancing our goals of (1) building an iconic brand and business (2) creating an extraordinary place and path for our employees and (3) leveraging our success to give back by helping to empower underprivileged children is paramount to evo’s success. We have a passion for community, sports and lifestyle, and a collective hunger when it comes to building a great company together.

evo is comprised of a group of passionate, fun-loving, highly-motivated people who come together to create a company culture that is unique, balanced, respectful, fun, and productive. We are looking for someone to expand our team – someone who can solve tough problems and roll with the punches in a dynamic environment, someone who loves to learn and face new challenges, someone who isn’t afraid to communicate with a whole company’s worth of other people, and someone who loves technology almost as much as a top-to-bottom run in feather-light, chest-deep powder.

We are in search of an experienced full-stack .Net developer who can complement our small, talented team of developers to help us build and maintain the software behind evo.com and more. We are effectively a small software development shop housed within a toy store, so this role will be involved with everything from the web presence at www.evo.com to backend systems that run our warehouse, stores, and internal-facing tools.

This job requires great communication skills, excellent critical thinking abilities, and sound judgment to assess requirements, execute smart implementations, write maintainable and easily-readable code, and help guide the architecture of our systems into the future.

Job Responsibilities //
• Work with other developers at evo to design, implement and maintain the software behind our ecommerce website, merchandising systems, order processing, warehouse management and others.
• Make sound architecture decisions as systems are built out - test-driven, service-oriented architectures are our goal.
• Work with outside vendors to deliver solutions. We occasionally lean on outside vendors for design, user experience, and development.
• Communicate effectively. We are a nimble organization and tend to develop iteratively without over-investing in specifications. This requires excellent communication between team members and to the broader company. We are not a meeting-heavy organization, so proactive communication is a must.

Job Requirements

Skills & Requirements//
• You love to stay on the bleeding edge of technology.
• Problem solving and critical thinking are like breathing to you and something you do with a measure of enthusiasm, patience, tenacity, and thoroughness.
• “Optimizing business processes” is a phrase that excites and inspires you – we are a growing company, so achieving scalability in everything we do is part of our DNA.
• Able to sprint and scrum like the best of ‘em – we are not a strict agile shop, but do our development in sprints and try to adhere to the spirit of agile.
• Proficient writing C# .Net applications in MSFT Visual Studio – primarily MVC, web forms, and web services.
• Experience in T-SQL, ADO.Net, Entity Framework, JSON, or other data access models.
• Experience in web presentation-layer: Javascript, HTML 5, CSS 3, jQuery, LESS.
• Experience writing native windows applications (WinForms, WPF) a plus.
• Experience writing unit tests (we use XUnit) and developing services and storage solutions in Azure are plus as well.
• We use Jira (bug tracking), Git (we use BitBucket), TeamCity (continuous integration) so any familiarity with those is a bonus.
• Must be customer service-oriented with the ability to learn quickly, be resourceful/flexible, and exercise sound judgment.
• Must demonstrate excellent communication skills and patience – verbally, in writing and interpersonally to inspire and build trust.
• Must be able to handle high pressure/emergency response situations. S#@% happens – can you handle those situations without your forehead veins bursting?
