Job Description

509, INC is a leading brand in the outdoor, action sports, and motorsports industries. A small 20 person, yet rapidly growing company sold across 1,000 independent retailers worldwide. We are seeking to fill the position of Global Product Manager (GPM).

Working from Eastern Washington state and reporting to the CEO, the GPM will take charge and through a collaborative effort with the design and sales teams, lead the overall product road map & development for the entire brand.

Being a small, yet rapidly growing company, 509 is seeking a talented and highly motivated GPM that possesses the creative forward thinking of a successful manager.

As the GPM, you will develop and execute the overall product strategy for the 509 brand. A strategy that will position 509 to continue as an industry leader in the Powersports gear industry.

You will translate and execute based off of valuable consumer insights and retail opportunities globally in order to create entire product lines that support sales goals.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

• CEO: Working under and reporting to the CEO to ensure overall brand direction and integrity is maintained.
• DESIGN TEAM: Managing the product design team as direct reports. Ensuring new products are designed and developed on time in relation to the overall product road map.
• SALES TEAM: Work directly with the sales team for valuable sales data that will be translated into future line considerations.
• ACCOUNTING: Work directly with the accounting team to analyze and reduce product costs and ensure overall financial goals are met and exceeded.
• ATHLETES: Maintain a strong relationship with our industry leading sponsored athletes to ensure their product feedback and ideas are incorporated into new line development.
• RETAILERS: Communicate directly with key 509 retailers to ensure our product lines are successful in their independent stores. Use valuable retail data to improve future product lines.
• CONSUMERS: Aggregate and organize consumer provided feedback for future product line considerations.

GPM DUTIES

• Develop and fully manage a multi-category, multi-season product road map for the entire brand.
• Identify and ensure key milestones and dates are met throughout the development cycle of a product line.
• Collaborate with the sales and design teams to organize and develop the overall line planning for each season.
• Analyze financial history, selling, and market insights to create product line architecture.
• Create entire line plans for 2 seasonal collections annually. Plans to include product direction, pricing, financial targets by category, margin, and segmentation strategy.
• Must have in-depth retail market knowledge in the outdoor and/or Powersports industries. Including trends, innovation, competitor products, and an overall understanding of our target demographic.
• Serve as overall manager of product design team. Provide an enthusiastic and motivating management style ensuring results and goals are on target and met.
• Work & communicate directly with over a dozen overseas factories on a daily basis via email, Skype, and phone.
• Visit new and existing overseas factories multiple times annually as required
• Work with accounting team to identify key product costing metrics and goals and ensure product development comes in under targets.
• Must fully manage the product data across our GPM and ERP systems to ensure they are accurate and up to date.
• Assist in inventory forecasting and purchase order submissions.

KEY COMPETENCIES

• Extensive knowledge of apparel and technical motorsports or similar gear product development .
• Full understanding of the entire product life cycle process.
• Extensive experience with product road map creation and execution.
• Extensive direct personnel management & leadership experience.
• GPM software experience.
• Advanced computer experience including the full Microsoft Office Suite.
Must possess advanced Excel knowledge.
• Basic level of Adobe Illustrator experience.
• Excellent collaborative skills in a team environment.
• Excellent written & oral communication skills.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, merchandising, marketing or related field.
• 5+ years of product line management experience.
• Strong understanding of wholesale distribution through a vast network of independent retailers.
• Knowledge in garment construction, fit, costing and technical development.
• Knowledge of product development lifecycles, calendar management, timelines, and deliverables.
• Able to multi-task, work in a fast paces environment, and manage hundreds of SKU’s across multiple categories and seasonal lines.
• Must have excellent written & verbal communication skills as well as strong computer skills.
• Must have proven history of being a motivational team leader and personnel manager.
• Must be highly organized and detail oriented.
