Hiring a Junior Product Designer - Apparel / Softgoods

Job Description:
Industry leading apparel / softgoods design firm searching for highly-motivated, talented and creative individuals who can work in a dynamic fast-paced creative environment.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Report to Senior Designers and the Design Director.
- Willingness to listen, learn, and contribute to the design discussion.
- Design product collections.
- Work on designs with fast-paced clients.
- Translate design directives, market information and user input into innovative commercial designs.
- Deeply understand the essence of client needs.
- Create client specific color and concept boards.
- Produce sketches, 2D designs and tech packs for each style.
- Maintain timelines.
- Willingness to go the extra distance to get to the finish line.

Essential Skills & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in fashion, product, or softgoods design
- 0-2 years of experience in softgoods / apparel design
- Knowledge of apparel, fashion terminology, the product development process, and textiles
- 100% proficient in Adobe Illustrator a must
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects on an ongoing basis
- A self-starter who is able to receive strong, honest critique
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Creative person with fashion and trend consciousness
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with appropriate sense of urgency
- Ability to work in a team environment, build trust and relationships with customers and company staff
- Demonstrates self-control and resilience in stressful situations
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing work environment
- Strong interpersonal and listening skills

Experience:
We are especially interested in candidates who have a passion for softgoods and apparel design. The ideal candidate for the role will have a perspective of brands they like and understanding of gear they use. He/she must be able to work as part of a team alongside other designers and product developers and clients. He/she will also be trend aware and be able to introduce new designs, influences and processes to the firm.
