Overview and Primary Responsibility:
Danner is seeking an experienced, entrepreneurial, and creative minded retail merchandiser to determine appropriate 3rd party items for Danner stores. This position will play an important role in Danner’s retail business, which includes the lifestyle and full-line store concepts, potentially new concepts in the future, and new store opens. This person loves a fast paced environment, will own the process of selecting the assortment, managing inventories, product lifecycle, markdown strategy, and profitability.
Essential Functions of the Position:
Product Assortment
• Build an assortment that is brand appropriate
• Create a balanced assortment in terms of brand, quality, fit, value, style count, and key item depth
• Continually review the assortment to remain on trend, and refresh the assortment as needed
• Blend products from our own brand as well as 3rd party brands
• Manage seasonal timeline, sales goals, and profit goals for merchandise assortment
• Manage branded/3rd party footwear merchandising working with Regional Retail Store Manager, Retail Operation Specialist, and creative team
• Develop accessory brand training for store staff
Product Development and Designs
• Collaborate with product line managers and marketing teams to create branded 3rd party items
• Demonstrate understanding of industry trends and make recommendations to aid in the development of product lines
• Generate innovative and creative ideas
• Build a relationship with product design and development teams that fosters development of innovative, relevant, on-brand product designs that take into account manufacturing limitations, yet push our expectations of quality, lead time, and value.
Market
• Represent that brand with integrity and authority
• Build a relationship with the market that results in a unique product mix
• Sell the brand to suppliers and new brands
• Exhibit market awareness through knowledge of relevant brands and reference points
• Understand core customers and buy to relevant attributes in each market segment.
Other Functions
• Manage Open to Buy plan by utilizing flow sheets and items plans, and know when to change the Open to Buy based on business needs (in future)
• Analyze the business and react with timely reorders and cancellations
• Understand seasonality and minimize markdowns
• Other duties as assigned by Retail Channel Manager
