Swimwear Designer Job in Los Angeles County, CA

We have an immediate opportunity for a Contemporary Swimwear and Ready to Wear Designer with at least 3-5 years of design experience. This position will be responsible for the entire design process starting from initial design concepts and will work directly with product developer and technical designer to fully execute sample range. Ultimately we are looking for an extremely creative designer who has the confidence and innovation it takes to build a must have collection each season. The perfect candidate will have complete understanding of the swim market and the acute ability to problem solve both creatively and technically. This person will also be an extreme team player and have a very positive attitude at all times. This position will report into the Creative Director.

Responsibilities are as follows, but not limited to:

• Design entire product range of swimwear and ready to wear items for both women’s and kids
• Work with sales to develop line plan at the beginning of each season
• Communicate often with sales on sell thru of styles and brand opportunities.
• Build color story, seasonal mood boards and print direction each season/All ideas will be presented and approved by Creative Director prior to being adopted
• Work directly with Art Director to create signature prints
• Work with product developer to source fabrics and trims
• Work with pattern maker/technical designer to perfect fit, quality and design intent
• Be at the forefront of innovation in the swim market to ensure we are delivering best of class swimwear and ready to wear
• Swimwear will consist of separates, one pieces, swim tops, kids swimwear and rash guards. Ready to wear will consist of the ultimate collection of beach cover ups that can be worn on and off the beach
• Cover ups are sourced both domestically and overseas and this designer will need to be able to work with pattern makers to deliver fully detailed design packages to build designs from
• Understanding the demands of the market and reacting to shifts in market trends at all times is critical
• Communicating all changes to cross functional partners (PD, Technical design, sales, marketing, etc.) in a timely manner is a must.
• Designer must attend all fittings
• Provide detailed tech packs to technical designer and product developer calling out all construction information, color ways, fit intent, style numbers, etc.
• Crafting all product descriptions for ecommerce site and catalog
• Communicate all print comments and lab dip comments to product developer
• Assist in Model selection and styling for all photo shoots
• Manage the catalog design process with graphic artist
• Designer will be responsible for working with marketing and sales on all product collaborations and any special make ups for editorial or retail exposure
