Cleobella is looking for a Financial Controller to join the team.

Responsible for the day-to-day operations of Accounting Department staff, including organizing, maintaining, and directing accounting activities and functions. These include recording and maintenance of the company’s financial transactions and sub ledgers, tax compliance, and financial statement preparation and appraisal of profitability and performance against budget. Responsible for various managerial reporting duties, and direct supervision of the accounting staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Plan, organize, and direct the activities of General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Treasury Management, and direct the activities of the general accounting staff.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Oversee all monthly and year end closings. Review general ledger accounts and records to ensure that the Company’s financial reports are produced accurately.
• Assist the owner in the development of the Company’s budgets and forecasts.
• Review and approve all sales, excise and other tax returns and deposits and ensure payments are made as due. Ensure that sales taxes are accrued, collected and remitted to appropriate governmental agencies when due, and that all exemptions for which the Company is eligible are utilized.
• Coordinate audits with various external auditors, including year-end financial auditors, bank auditors, and government auditors. Ensure that reports and documents provided to various auditors are accurate and complete.
• Prepare managerial reports as required, or as directed by the CFO or other executives, to assist with strategic, investment and operating decisions. Assist management in understanding the internal financial statements and answer any inquiries they may have.
• Monitor and maintain the Company’s accounting systems, reviewing and upgrading as necessary. Evaluate new technical developments and recommend appropriate actions and assess proposed systems enhancements.
• Ensure that all established policies, rules, regulations and agreements are followed. Ensure that all department processes and procedures are appropriately documented and complied with. Safeguards Company’s assets.
• Define areas of responsibility and training requirements for subordinates consistent with corporate responsibility. Assure that a positive employee relations position is maintained. Assure that effective communication is maintained within areas of responsibility. Conduct employee discussions at regular and frequent intervals.

• Supervisory Responsibilities
• Manage the recruitment, direction, performance, retention, and development of the accounting and finance staff. Confer with direct reports to establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining objectives which contribute to improved cost, quality, productivity, and/or competitive position of the organization.
Job Requirements
Education Requirement
• Minimum Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in accounting and five to ten years related experience and/or training. Professional certification (CPA / CMA) preferred, kept current through required continuing education.

Qualifications
• 5 years of progressive accounting experience and three or more years at a management level. Knowledge of general business operating policies and procedures.
• Two years of supervisory experience.
• Advanced analytical skills to develop and implement new policies and procedures, develop and administer departmental expense and revenue budgets, and prepare complex reports and analyses.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Problem-solving, analytical skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously are essential. Attention to detail and mental concentration are necessary for accurately performing tasks and tolerating frequent interruptions.
• Demonstrated ability to deal with public and internal contacts on involved controversial matters of considerable importance, with the skillful exercise of considerable resourcefulness, poise, tact, and diplomacy to accomplish the objectives of the company and establish or retain good will.
• Demonstrated strong language skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
