POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Buyer is responsible for developing and procuring Van Heusen Men's and/or Dress Furnishingsmerchandise for the department based on analysis of the business with focus on maximizing financial profitability.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:
Create the strategy to maximize sales and profitability of the department
Procure merchandise in the appropriate quantities, within the appropriate time frame and at the best price
Work with the Design team to develop product
Work with the Sourcing team to ensure a quality product is sourced to meet all financial guidelines
Create assortment flow with product and work with the Design and Planning teams to ensure on-time delivery
Work with the Visual team to oversee floorset (product placement)
Present current financial open to buy position with the Planning department on a monthly basis
Negotiate prices with third party vendors
Analyze all aspects of the business and delivery information in weekly review sessions
Communicate marketing needs
Participate in the training and development of Assistant Buyers & Associate Buyers
Visit stores to review presentation, identify problems and listen for suggestions and comments
Shop competing venues to monitor fashion trends, pricing strategies and presentation techniques
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Experience:
5-8 years of buying experience
Education:
Bachelors Degree in Fashion Merchandising, Buying, Fashion Management, Marketing or equivalent experience
Skills:
Advanced skills in Excel and e-mail in all divisions, some divisions require advanced skills in Word and PowerPoint also
