POSITION SUMMARY:
Contribute as a core team member in the design, development, testing, and support of operating system components. This position also requires the evaluation and implementation of software tools to mitigate risks and introduce operational efficiencies.

This role focuses primarily on system engineering and support in the I&O portion of I.T.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:
Serve as the SME for all Linux systems.
Perform system management functions such as configuration, security, resource monitoring and reporting with an eye toward enabling automation and software-driven configuration and provisioning.
Create and maintain VM and bare metal restore process using industry standard tools.
Monitor and correct critical server issues such as performance and process failures as part of an overall QOS improvement plan.
Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability by defining and maintaining appropriate version management practices, including recommendation of tools and best practices
Stay current on industry trends by focusing on and planning for operating system releases. Attend technical conferences and present value propositions to management.
Engage in community based support to identify issues and best practices outside of PVH.
Work closely with application teams to identify performance bottlenecks and leverage the necessary tool sets.
Work closely with Audit teams to maintain and enhance systems compliancy.
Proactively monitor for and remediate security exposures.
Develop and manage as standards, high-availability system solutions in support of key PVH applications.
Work with IBM Storwize, PURE SAN and other storage solutions to maintain and improve the DR posture of the company.
Must be proficient in Red Hat 7.x and SUSE 12.x operating systems. Knowledge of CentOS and other Linux builds is a plus.
Must be proficient in various types of hardware and software hosting platforms such as IBM Power systems, Power VM, HP, VmWare etc
Must be proficient in software driven orchestration and configuration management tools such as GIT, Python, Satellite, Terraform, Chef, Ansible and Identity Management tools.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in system architecture.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in supporting complex system infrastructure.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering on IBM Power and other virtualized systems.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in software-defined hosting solutions and technologies.
Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or SUSE (SCA) preferred.
Experience with private cloud, IAAS and AWS is a plus.

Education:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field is required.

Skills:
Demonstrate broad knowledge of systems infrastructure, including networking, security, IAAS, virtualization, OS, configuration management, etc.
Ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
Strong customer service and result focus.
Ability to articulate complex ideas and create technical documentation.
Ability to coach and train personel in best practices and advanced technologies.
