The Human Resources Coordinator Intern will collaborate with the Human Resources team in administering programs which are consistent with corporate guidelines and objectives. The HRC will provide daily support on all HR issues; areas of responsibility include but are not limited to employee relations, health & safety, recruitment, compensation legislative compliance, performance appraisals, exit interviews, policies & procedures

ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):

Recruitment
Post open positions internally and externally
Issue Employment contracts
Coach and guide store managers in their recruitment process
Coordinate job fairs across the country

Health and Safety
Assist in ensuring provincial Health and Safety legislation is being respected in all our premises
Report any accidents to the Provincial and Safety Boards
Follow-up on any accident reports and Follow-up with the injured employee to ensure prompt return to work
Discuss with HR manager any accident which may seem dubious and ensure corrective measures are delivered when needed
Coordinate with store management when possible a temporary return to work
Ensure enough employees are trained on First Aid to comply with provincial safety regulations

Employee relations
Assist HR management with day-to-day employee issues or concerns
Coordinate and administer leave of absences
Prepare job abandonment letters for stores

Legislative compliance & internal policies and procedures
Understand and apply the internal HR policies and procedures for retail
Conduct research and ensure compliance with all provincial laws
Coordinate the performance review process
Update and maintain retail salary scales

Professional Development and Networking
Act as a liaisons between required associations, such as Quebec Retail Council, the Order of HR Professionals of Quebec and any other association deemed pertinent
Work in partnership with payroll to resolve specific employee case

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience Required:
1 year of experience in a similar human resources position within a large company (An asset)

Education:
College Degree or equivalent is required
Bachelor Degree in HR or Administration (on going)

Skills:
Must be perfectly bilingual (spoken and written)
Able to work in a fast paced environment
Excellent communications skills
Autonomy and discretion
Must know when to challenge the status-quo
Must be Pro-active
Must be able to multi-task and be flexible
Must be able to focus on the customer needs without losing sight of corporate objectives
Maintains a positive and supportive attitude
Proficient with Microsoft Office
