POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Designer is responsible for supporting the Calvin Klein North America Apparel denim design team from seasonal concept and color through style bulk delivery. He or she will also have the opportunity to work in conjunction with the Sr Designer on seasonal denim product design, wash development, and wash comments.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:
Learn and familiarize his or herself with Calvin Klein North America Mens Apparel brand aesthetics and develop an eye for detail and high quality execution on proto samples, sales samples, and production
Assist the Sr Designer on developing seasonal ideas, creating sketches, and building tech packs
Support the Sr Designer on preparing for seasonal presentations
Assist team on achieving all seasonal design calendar deadlines and milestones
Create tech packs and maintain accurate updates in Centric system
Update changes to sketches, presentation boards, and tech packs
Support the Sr Designer in fittings
Seek innovation through vintage research, market research, and on-line research
Maintain organized sample closet and past submit library
Contribute to print, pattern, and CAD work needed for style development
Support design team on preparing for seasonal presentations
Own the development and maintenance of tech packs including detailed sketching, bill of materials, color, etc.
Communicate daily with internal and overseas offices
Participate in trend research with design team

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Experience: 1-2 years of Mens Apparel experience preferred; Denim experience a plus

Education: Bachelors Degree in Fashion Design

Skills:
Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign Adobe, and Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and word experience a must
Good sense of color is required
Strong communications skills and interpersonal skills
Highly organized and detail oriented
Ability to establish good relationships with key cross functional partners and department staff
Flexibility to deadline demands, seasonal schedules
Centric PLM system experience a plus
