POSITION SUMMARY:

Calvin Klein is in search of an architect in the New York office to lead the compliance function of the Global Store Design team. This position reports to the SVP, Global Store Design and is responsible for partnering with regional offices to steward the brands creative vision in architectural form/language. The candidate should be detail-oriented, procedural rigorous, and collaborative with respect to diverse stakeholder groups.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:
Review layouts and other design/construction information for proposed branded environments (retail/wholesale/showrooms) as submitted by regional teams and joint venture partners to ensure compliance with CKI submission requirements and global design standards. Gather feedback from the Global Store Design + Planning, Visual Environments, Visual Merchandising and other CK teams as needed to develop a cohesive HQ point of view on planned projects.
Develop alternative layouts and detailed design solutions in collaboration with members of the Global Store Design team. This documentation will take the form of CAD layouts drawn in AutoCAD, 3D studies, and/or hand sketches as needed to provide clear feedback to regional teams and joint venture partners.
Compile design review packages for issue to global partners. Review project submissions, present CKI feedback and follow up with partners throughout the construction process to ensure compliance with CKI design criteria.
On larger projects, act as primary project manager to lead the organization in meetings with internal team members, outside consultants (architects, engineers, lighting designers) and Contractors to build the project. Schedules and budgets must be created and monitored with all parties.
Coordination with contractors and review/approval of shop drawings is required during construction.
Responsible to obtain, organize and compile project completion status and photo reports from regional teams and joint venture partners for CKI review.
Work with the Store Design + Planning/Visuals Environments team (SVPs, Director of Design Development) in updating the latest design/concept manuals and material packages; as well as reinforcing CKI processes and requirements to the regional team and joint venture partners.
Manage the physical and digital housekeeping of drawing packages, store information and material packages for Store Design + Planning.
Travel as needed to maintain work relationships with international partners; coordinate construction issues and review completed shops around the world.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Experience:
Ten years or more prior store design, planning and construction experience in an architecture firm and/or in-house store planning team for a fashion brand
Ideally a 4-5 years formational experience in a design-driven architecture firm known for modern conceptual design and with exposure to retail clients
Education: Masters or Bachelors Degree in Architecture or Interior Design
Skills:
Possess high aesthetics and a keen eye for high quality, high-end specialty store design
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings
Excellent time management skills and interpersonal skills. Must have an excellent presence with people, as the position requires interfacing with many persons inside and outside of the Company
Good verbal and written communication skills. Must be good with budgets.
Ability to work flexibly under pressure.
Must have computer skills typical of architectural professionals: Autocad, basic 3D rendering, Photoshop, Illustrator and In Design.
