About the job
The Team
The role of Product Development Sneaker/Trainers will report directly into the Senior Director Sourcing & Production for TH Footwear.
This role is to manage the product development process with the Tommy footwear product line specializing in sneakers/trainers for the Tommy Jeans & Tommy Sport business on a daily basis. You will provide an effective transition of technical footwear designs from prototyping into production. Responsiblities also include monitoring manufacturability, material selection, quality standards, bill of material and the development schedule. Your key stakeholders are located in Amsterdam, Italy and Asia.
This role will manage and drive the development and pre-production process with all relevant parties involved (Design, Merchandising, Sales, Product Development/Commercialization team in Asia), in order to achieve qualitative, sustainable, commercial product execution aligning with our corporate goals, calendar (critical path) and financial key performance. With an extensive knowledge of the entire product development process, as well as technical construction of performance shoes/sneakers/trainer and outsoles and execution on the product, costing and vendor relations. The product developement manager sneaker/trainers is the key supporting figure and link throughout the entire development process and PLM system from SRF (Sample Request Form) into SMS (Salesmen Samples) with everyone involved.
The Position
Manage complex and sustainable projects or complex and technically challenging products across different functions for the sneaker/trainer range across genders for Tommy Jeans and Tommy Sports.
Manage the development process into pre-production along the calendar to achieve commercial execution (market needs) as well as financial goals (target FOBs) through collaboration with Design, Product Development, Merchandising, Costing and Quality Assurance
Translate design vision and consumer needs into products which supports and meets commercial strategy
Ability to understand 2D and 3D images, must be up to date on footwear technology
Advise and support design with material/hardware sourcing and developments to make sure our sneakers/trainers are as sustainable as possible
Partner with Design and Merchandise on all sample comments and revisions throughout the development process and the follow up
Prepare and own the SRF (Sample Request Form) review, analysis, hand over and follow up with the Product Development team in Asia
Plan and manage development calendars, manage external partner for stand-alone product categories
Ability to effectively interact with different departments, Offices and with manufacturing partners via phone/video calls, written communication and in person
Come up with accurate product specifications and ensure they are maintained and communicated to all parties involved at all times
Maintain accurate and up to date systems (PLM, LL database) on all relevant aspects that result in an efficient flow of information between PD Amsterdam and Buying office in Asia
Manage proto, sample, SMS and production status, to ensure Tommy Hilfiger standards as well as on time deliveries are met
To always think sustainable in all aspects (process, material, product)
Communication between internal/external partners to build a strong product development cycle
Maintain the PLM system on style level as well as the material library
To be the gatekeeper and problem solver of potential risks along the development process
The Ideal Candidate

6+ years previous experience in an Footwear production/development department
Minimum 3 years working within a sneaker environment
Proven record of accomplishment in the field of footwear development
A passion for product, sustainability and details
Strong understanding of fashion, the industry and trends with footwear
Effective communication, influencing and negotiating skills
Ability to create plans and deliver presentations
Strong knowledge of PLM
Good eye for product demonstrating excellent commercial sneaker awareness
Focused on achieving results & confident to take on accountability to deliver to expectations
Ability to bring ideas to the table in relation to product and brand mix
Comfortable to build relationships at all levels with suppliers and internal stakeholders
Ability to work as part of a team as well as being a self-motivated individual;
Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure
Quick to learn new systems and tools
Comfortable working in an international environment
Fluency in English is required; working knowledge of other languages are a bonus
Open to travel within Europe as well as Asia
