About the job
The Team
We are working within the Womenswear Division, creating seasonal collections for the sweater/knitwear category including knitted skirts & dresses. We work closely with all designers within the womenswear team to align the sweater/knitwear collection to the womenswear inspiration & details.
You will focus on researching trends that works into the Tommy Hilfiger Womenswear brand strategy/DNA
You will be part of an enthusiastic team and will learn to work from A to Z on a collection
Create brand identity through trims & branding development
Research trends for the WSW sweater/knitwear
Selecting yarns/fabrics during mills presentation
Focus on sustainability regarding yarns selections
Keep and maintain our yarns & garments library up to date & relevant
You will design new shapes & details for development with the technical fit team
You will work to the divisional calendar to meet deadlines
You will work in Illustrator & Photoshop to design technical sheets & overviews for divisional presentations
You need to create all selected & confirmed styles into computerized & design technical sheets
Share completed technical sheet to buying offices globally
Participate in fittings with your Senior Designer and technical team
Travel for efficient and relevant shopping trips and to factories for handover & inspiration.
The Position
As a Sweater/Knitwear Designer within WSW team, you be working to the Womenswear Division seasonal collections. You will report into the Senior sweater/Knitwear Designer. You will work closely with the Product Developers and Merchandisers within your area. Next to this youll be working close with all designers within the WSW team to align the sweater/knitwear collection to the WSW inspiration and details.
We expect you to be curious and follow what is the next trends in sweater/knitwear with a love for the sweater/knitwear category. We expect you to be creative with a fresh and new eye on the sweater/knitwear.
The Ideal Candidate
Graduated from an BA or MA fashion program
4/5 years experience in sweater/knitwear
To have a very strong technical sweater/knit knowledge (knowing yarns contend, gg & plys, stitches terminology.
Have a very good eye for fit and attention to details.
Knowledge of designing technical sketches.
Organized, enthusiastic, easy to adapt and flexible with changes
Articulate & good at presenting at different stage the collection. From sketch review to proto review
Computer skills (Illustrator/Photoshop) is a must & hand illustration skill
Fluent in English both written and verbal as English is the working language of the company
Able to work in a hectic environment and has a hands-on mentality.
Work independently as well as in a team and that you also enjoy working in a busy environment.
