PRODUCT MANAGER II

The Product Manager holds a senior position in the company and is responsible for the financial growth and profitability of the assigned region and categories. This position helps create and manage the Global Product/Category Strategy that supports the Brand objectives and goals while ensuring all functional areas of the company are engaged and aligned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop a product and category strategy that grows and maintains the Lowepro market leadership position by distribution channel. Identify product opportunities and threats. Create value for Lowepro customers through product.
2. Conduct primary and secondary research on market forces such as consumers, competitors, distribution channels and suppliers. Research category and hardware trends. Develop competitor and marketplace intelligence knowledge on category and conduct analyses.
3. Effectively plan and manage product lifecycles from introduction through exit to achieve product strategy objectives. Evaluate product success, analyze trends and make product line recommendations based on the study of profitability, strategic advantages, and alignment with corporate objectives.
4. Develop new product briefs including target cost, target consumer, unique selling proposition, competitive landscape, initial launch quantities and packing configurations. Document directional changes as they occur.
5. Develop strategic category plans and ROI analyses to ensure that key decisions are based on sound consumer insights and marketplace facts. Formulate pricing strategies.
6. Use financial metrics to evaluate product opportunities and performance.
7. Drive development of Mar Com, Channel Marketing and Packaging strategies.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position requires indirect supervision of any personnel offering support on listed projects and responsibilities.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong Profit and Loss Management experience
- Solid presentation skills, both one on one and to in large group setting
- Requires high degree of organization, ability to prioritize tasks appropriately while managing multiple projects; ability to manage many types of projects, services and vendors in different manners simultaneously.
- Requires both high-level strategic thought capability and meticulous attention to detail.
- Must be able to deal with multiple changes to information on a daily basis. Ability to prioritize and multi-task under pressure.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must respond effectively to daily requests for information, and solicit information from others. Must have ability to maintain open channels with all departments and executive staff and be a positive, contributing and adaptable member of the team.
- Requires product management financial literacy and competency.
- Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint Internet and E-mail software.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree and 6 years related experience.
- Consumer global brand product experience with a background managing a multitude of products; distribution network and/or retail experience.
- Experience in the “cut & sew” travel accessory industry a plus
