This position is responsible for managing all aspects of the product development, multi-stage execution and calendar milestones. The apparel developer will maintain the development and quality of apparel and accessories categories by serving as the liaison between the Merchandise & Design and factories. Key skills required to be successful in this position include the ability to create, maintain, and disseminate technical information, and the necessary documentation to meet deadlines and achieve quality manufacturing.

The Product Developer will work well with the Products team, have a positive attitude, be quality driven, and pay close attention to design details.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manage comprehensive product development milestones to ensure on-time delivery of a quality product that is ready to go-to-market.
• Monitor and maintain the development of communication with vendors each day, style by style.
• Partner with Design to fully understand complete design intent/briefs and interpret design comments in order to translate this understanding into comprehensive specs within technical documentation.
• Creates the technical specifications and BOM’s for the products, publishes, and maintains all records, style files, and samples associated with the product
• Leads early development process by working with design to establish concepts and aesthetic intentions through sampling for key edit and line presentation meetings. This includes sourcing new fabrics, trims etc. for each season.
• Develop materials, hardware, and trims in accordance with corporate and product specific standards, color standards, and timeline goals
• Manage print and color development from creation to final approval. Track strike-offs, lab dips, and all related approval needs.
• Continually make sure that tech packages are complete and free from errors. Deliver tech packages to vendors precisely within the development calendar time frame.
• Manage tracking, comments, and calendar related to all product phases (Protos, SMS).
• Address styling & fit comments during development (in conjunction with Designers).
• Partner with Design and Merchandise in achieving target costing and margin requirements.
• Assist in costing negotiations to ensure targets are met along with product objectives.
• Create and maintain a development tracker and ensure all calendar requirements are met.
• Responsible for ensuring each product is 100% approved and production ready at specific deadlines.
• Create and maintain WIP Reports and help with QC inspections
• Help with meetings by preparing samples, reports and presentation needs when advised
• Assist in shipping and tracking when needed
• Assist Merchandise and Director of Products with other related duties or tasks as needed.
• Provide technical product support to marketing, sales, and customer service
• Coordinate and meet with end-users for product validation and development meetings
• Manage fit (where applicable), field testing and evaluation of prototypes
