POSITION TITLE: Accounting Manager

BUSINESS/COMPANY/DEPARTMENT: Finance

LOCATION: Park City, UT

As Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the timeliness of our monthly accounting close and the accuracy of our financial statements. This includes being responsible for performing complex accounting activities for all of Backcountry’s brands and preparing the consolidated financial statements. You will lead and develop the accounting team to ensure financial record integrity and standards, while maintaining and enhancing the internal controls within the accounting department. In addition, you will work cross-functionally to support business activities with the proper Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) treatment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage the month, quarter and year end close process to ensure timely delivery of accurate financial statements and supporting schedules, ensuring that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
Prepare consolidated internal and external financial statements.
Develop, contribute, and present accounting and financial information, analysis, and recommendations for accounting operations.
Maintain and balance the company consolidation through entries across multiple subsidiaries, including intercompany reconciliations and foreign currency accounting.
Review general ledger entries and account reconciliations, substantiate financial transactions, maintain auditable record and supporting documentation standards.
Identify, research, and explain variances of actual performance to prior results.
Maintain, strengthen, and test internal controls, while consistently evaluating the control environment impact from changes in the business.
Analyze current procedures and drive continuous improvement, especially by leveraging and adopting technology to automate processes.
Collaborate with cross-functional areas to align business activities with the proper general accounting treatment.
Provide accounting support for internal and external audits.
Hire, develop, and motivate accounting staff members, including building the accounting skills and knowledge of the team to deliver complete and accurate financial recording, reporting and analysis.
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; stay up to date on professional publications; maintain personal networks; participate in professional organizations.
Accomplish the accounting and organization mission by completing related projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

4 to 6 years of accounting and/or auditing experience, preferably within the retail industry.
CPA required; Big 4 experience preferred.
2 years experience leading and supervising a team of direct reports.
Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills
Ability to multitask, balance priorities and meet tight deadlines, while maintaining accuracy of information and attention to detail.
Intermediate to advanced NetSuite, MS Office Suite, PowerBI and Alteryx skills preferred.
