Senior Technical Accountant Job in Park City, VT

The Senior Technical Accountant will support our technical accounting team in researching, resolving and documenting complex accounting issues and transactions such as revenue recognition, leases, M&A-related, and other non-recurring transactions. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in general accounting, revenue recognition and a strong analytical and problem solving ability. About the Job: • Prepare consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering as well as analyzing information from the general ledger system • Perform technical research on non-recurring complex accounting issues and support accounting consultation advice to business partners under US GAAP • Assess the financial and operating impact of new accounting pronouncements and support ensuring compliance with relevant financial reporting standards • Review contractual arrangements to determine proper accounting treatment and document conclusion • Draft and maintain accounting policies and memos as well as develop and deliver training to a wide range of audiences and stakeholders • Assist with the implementation of NetSuite ERP system, including creating process walkthroughs and delivering training to Operational Accounting team • Support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of a strong internal control framework • Assist with the annual audit to ensure accurate and comprehensive audit is complete – meeting all deadlines and requirements to our lenders, owners, and other constituents • Assist within the month end close tasks and entries, as necessary About You: • 2 to 4 years of relevant accounting experience in public accounting or a mix of public accounting and industry • CPA eligible preferred • Understanding of US GAAP, Reporting, and Accounting principles • Excellent written, verbal and analytical skills; ability to multitask and balance priorities • Ability to meet tight deadlines, while maintaining accuracy of information and attention to detail • Intermediate to advanced MS Office Suite skills • Knowledge and familiarity of NetSuite preferred • Experience working in technical accounting, accounting policies, accounting advisory, or a similar role • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and related experience with accounting research and application; • Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, organized and thorough with the desire for continuous improvement; • Ability to meet assigned deadlines, with excellent verbal and written communication and analytical skills; • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish assigned tasks; • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, constantly changing environment About Backcountry Our mission is to connect people to their passions.
