In this role, you will lead the FP&A team for Backcountry and will have deep experience with fast-growing stage companies, the global e-commerce industry, and the public markets, ideally with IPO experience. This leader will have strategic and executional experience leading large finance organizations, will be an excellent cross-functional partner, a terrific communicator, and will be able to develop and inspire large teams. This role will be critical to the creation and execution of both our long-range plan and current year fiscal year results. They will be pivotal to “telling the story” of our results to the executive team and board of directors. The VP of FP&A will optimize decision making across the company, will be a key member of Backcountry’s leadership team and will report directly to Backcountry’s CFO. About the Job: • Quarterback the company’s financial planning processes (current year and long-range planning) across multiple locations and business units through cross-functional coordination, rigorous challenging of key drivers and KPIs, and supportive collaboration • Lead the monthly Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) process with the board through thoughtful planning, clear understanding of key drivers and KPIs, and concise storytelling • Lead the ongoing forecasting process, developing the level of rigor and support needed for a billion dollar company and setting guidance to public markets • Operate closely with the accounting team to provide the CFO, COO, CEO a full picture of the business and operations across the P&L, Cash Flow and Balance Sheet • Weave financial rigor and thought processes into Backcountry decision-making • Standardization of ROI methodology including developing critical metrics that evaluate performance across our portfolio initiatives and building a robust post mortem analytical process • Develop and implement FP&A standard methodologies in areas such as systems, forecasting tools, reporting, and financial calendars • Automate and streamline existing processes • Analyze business data and cross-functional inputs to help make decisions • Develop a team and structure that will serve as the financial support to our various site and functional leaders with clear expectations and consistent service levels, ensuring that we accurately and consistently answer the financial implications of our strategic and operating questions • Lead, inspire, develop, and set direction for the FP&A team • Create, drive, and support the IPO roadmap and process • Set financial targets for the various functions at Backcountry to ensure we meet our short and long-term objectives. • Partner with Supply Chain and Planning to optimize our inventory management to support our fast growing business About You: • Complete knowledge and understanding of FP&A processes for a direct to consumer business • Firm understanding of the IPO process and the role FP&A plays in a successful offering • Quantitative decision-making, while balancing qualitative service to customers • Strong PowerPoint capability and ability to carefully tell a story through language and charts • Service oriented approach and mindset • Ability and willingness to travel • Consistent record for innovation, execution and delivering results to a performance-driven culture • Previous experience in FP&A management is required • 10+ years of related professional experience • Possess strong interpersonal skills, excellent attention to detail, and strong analytical skills • Shown ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires quick thinking and effective multitasking • Validated ability to multi-task, triage and execute • Strong attention to detail and specifics • MBA is preferred About Backcountry Our mission is to connect people to their passions.
