The Creative Director leads all of our creative efforts, reporting into our SVP Brand. This is a pivotal leader who will fuel the creative output for the entire organization. They oversee the visual design of all brand marketing material, ensuring that the same look and feel is represented across various platforms. The Creative Director will oversee a team of Art Directors, Graphic Designers, and copywriters. This person works cross-functionally with various teams including: Brand Marketing, Performance Marketing, UX, Product, Merch and Visual Merchandising, ensuring that all material aligns with the brand and creative strategy. They create unique and engaging digital/social, web/mobile, and marketing/advertising content. This person has a strong design vision, with the ability to execute in a fast paced, ever changing and evolving environment. This role will be responsible for leading the creative vision for the team, as well as specifically leading and executing the design around our brand standards and our own branded product marketing campaigns. This is a hands on Creative Director role, and it is expected that this person will be designing as well as managing. About the Job: • Establish the strategic brand and creative approach across a variety of marketing and sales mediums • Drive evolution in the brand’s visual identity, culminating in an elevated, forward thinking expression of the brand • Own the creative vision and execution to create a notable design and effective communication across all platforms • Work with newly formed Private Brands division to create brand marketing assets and brand content for each private brand. • Implement a high level of design standards, creating aesthetic solutions that are the envy of top creative directors everywhere • Establish operational processes to ensure campaigns are delivered on time, on budget and on strategy • Contribute deep knowledge of holistic design & creative strategies • Seamlessly represent brand essence by working cross-functionally with internal Content and Marketing teams About You: • 5+ years of Creative Lead or Art Director experience • Hands on, roll up their sleeves, with a positive, unflappable attitude • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in art, design, marketing or related field preferred • Expert knowledge of creative competencies including branding, art direction, and copywriting • Multi-channel retail experience • Ability to clearly articulate a captivating vision and strategy • Ability to drive innovation and brand distinction while executing creative work within scope, time and budget restraints • Experience working for a high volume e-commerce retailer • Expertise in latest design software: Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, etc. • Proficient in Web Graphics and Web Design, HTML, Ajax, JavaScript, and CSS, with a clear understanding as to how design comps translate to code • Creative conceptual thinker with an executive presence • Experience with premium consumer brands is a plus • Comfortable in a highly data-driven, quantitative culture About Backcountry Our mission is to connect people to their passions.
