Associate Buyers work with the Buyer and Senior Buyer to achieve the financial goals of the Merchandise Division (MD).About the Job • Assortment Selection: develop category/brand mix, scout new brands, new products and seek SMU/exclusive opportunity. • Order Writing & PO Management: review selling history and current market trends to influence Pre-Season buys. Carry out all order writing functions including Style/Color/Size selection and QTY/Dollar/Style allocation according to division financial objectives. Carry out all PO type builds, Pre-Season/ASAP/Closeout. • Inventory Management: practice in-line/in-Season pricing and end of season markdowns, review in-stock rates and sell through to identify inventory opportunity/risk. • Vendor Negotiations: negotiate for better discounts, terms, promotional periods, markdown dollars, margin enhancement and Closeout opportunities. Resolve any PO compliance and/or inventory issues and execute on RTVs. • Marketing: lends insights to develop Marketing and Promotion concepts. • Online Merchandising: review/optimize color thumbnail displayed on PLP and Search pages, manage Cross-Sell opportunities, build product packages, and work with Visual Merchandising team to ensure orderly/in-Season boosts highlight the best products and site taxonomy and facets managed from a customer perspective. About You • Bachelor’s Degree • 1-3 years of relevant Industry Merchandising/Buying experience • Solid foundation of Retail Math and Buying Fundamentals • Strong analytical skills • Proficient in Microsoft Office (proficiency in Excel a must) • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Excellent organizational and time management skills • Detail oriented • Ability to perform under pressure and prioritize competing tasks/initiatives • Interest in Hard Goods related activities preferred • Willingness and ability to travel as needed About Backcountry Our mission is to connect people to their passions.
