Data Scientist, Marketing Job in Park City, VT

The Data Scientist provides analytic and strategic support to address key questions for our marketing teams across a portfolio of businesses including Backcountry, Competitive Cyclist, and Steep & Cheap. About the Job: • Provide analytic and strategic support to address key questions across a portfolio of businesses • Aggregate, manipulate and analyze large and disparate data sets • Help implement an in-house matrix factorization-based recommender system that finds which customers are the best targets for a specific product, product category or brand • Help the Customer Marketing Team to better understand the business portfolio’s customer base • Develop predictive models by adapting existing work or through original research • Implement models and all preceding steps as production-ready code • Leverage massive data sets for novel analyses used for both actionable insights delivered to the acquisition and retention teams as well as the development of new models for Backcountry’s proprietary personalization engine • Work across finance, merchandising and operations teams to improve key pricing, product assortment and inventory management analyses and processes About You: • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science or a related quantitative field of study, and two (2) years of experience in a data science positions within an e-commerce environment • Work experience of academic coursework must have included:• Experience with statistical programming language R • Python or other free or open-source scripting language • Microsoft applications, including Microsoft Excel • Digital marketing, direct response marketing and marketing KPIs • Databases and software for handling computation on very large datasets • Web analytics tools Omniture or Google Analytics • Tableau Work Location: 1678 W Redstone Center Drive, Ste 210 Park City, UT 84098 Work Hours: 40 hours per week; 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
