The Email and Retention Marketing Senior Manager is responsible for the strategic roadmap and delivery of our overall e-mail and retention marketing program. This role spans the marketing campaigns for, Competitive Cyclist and Steep and Cheap. The role will guide and influence a 3 - 4 person email and retention team to manage both one off campaign sends and sophisticated lifecycle programs in a highly targeted manner. The role will manage to both short-term revenue and longer-term engagement objectives and be able to structure a communications plan and approach that balances both. This role will ensure ongoing campaigns including our editorial content, e-commerce sales and lifecycle drip campaigns utilize industry best practices and keep our users excited to hear from us. A major component of this job is communicating and syncing our plans with other departments and groups - so the ability to work well with others is a necessity. About the Job: Develop and execute against a holistic strategy and roadmap for email and retention marketing program Set clear objectives for both short-term revenue and long-term program development, with a clear measurement and testing plan Manage and develop a team of email channel staff to support the strategy and delivery of the program Prioritize the approach to building out a lifecycle approach to email marketing, targeting key behaviors in the customer’s consideration journey Coordinate with internal data science teams and external toolsets to manage customer segments, affinities and customer lifecycles Lead cross functional efforts for how the look and feel of our email templates evolve in line with broader brand evolution Communicate and coordinate with other departments to ensure all deliverables are met in order to meet our company goals. For example, work with merchandise to help support category sell through objectives Implement A/B testing framework across the email marketing team Work with Product and Brand managers to develop communications that support lifecycle initiatives, product launches and feature adoption Work closely with paid marketing team to create campaigns that re-engage and activate users acquired through paid channels About You: Bachelor’s or equivalent experience 5+ years of email marketing experience Expertise in data-driven marketing and customer segmentation. You prefer making decisions based on deep analysis Knowledge of email strategy and best practices including subject lines, messaging, segmentation, list management, deliverability and CAN-SPAM laws Process orientated with an aptitude for building out workflows and/or communication schedules in line with customer behavior Knowledge of basic branding principles and creative Basic understanding of performance marketing principles and testing practice Intermediate skill level with MS Office (primarily Excel)
