Backcountry is seeking candidates for our Graduate Development Program, an 24-36 month rotational program designed specifically for top-tier MBA and Graduate Students. Your graduate degree is preparing you to be a strategic thinker and make significant impacts in your selected industry. Our Graduate Development Program will give you the opportunity to apply your academic studies to real-world, operational experiences. You will be a contributing member of the team, drive results, and accelerate your professional development.

During the program, you will gain insight into the business operations of a leading e-commerce organization by participating directly in major projects and initiatives and working cross-functionally with company leaders. The program will rotate through two to four assignments in areas such as Operations, Finance/Strategy, Marketing, Merchandising, or other key areas of the business.

In addition, you will be directly mentored by a member of Backcountry’s Executive or Leadership Team.

About the Program:

! A robust 24-36 month development program rotating through up to four functional or project assignments
! Rotational assignments will vary based on the candidate’s interests, performance and business needs with a focus on leading strategic projects in various parts of the organization and preparing in-depth analysis and recommendations. For example, past assignments have included:
! Operations: Special projects that support the day to day business of Backcountry.com, Steepandcheap.com, and CompetitiveCyclist.com. Projects focus on pricing, customer loyalty, customer service (Gearheads), segmentation analysis, long-term strategic planning, and supporting corporate development efforts.
! Owned Brands: Projects focus on campaign analysis and planning, marketing strategy, product development, and whitespace analysis.
! Strategy: Deep dive into key trends in the business from a category, channel, and site traffic perspective. Evaluate the implications of changes in the market to our brands. Recommend feasible, key initiatives to support our brand’s value proposition

! Collaborate with leaders and cross-functional teams to learn and apply best practices and strategic insights
! Exposure to Senior Leaders and Executives through mentorships, events, and project presentations
! Regular feedback and coaching from rotational managers and assigned Leadership mentor

About You:

! Currently enrolled as a second year student pursuing an MBA or relevant Master’s Degree with a graduation date of Spring 2020.
! 3-5 years of experience in e-commerce, retail, operations, marketing, merchandising, engineering, investment banking, or consulting preferred
! Documented history of academic and work based project success
! Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively while applying sound business judgment and quantitative analytics
! Skilled ability to examine problems and challenges from a variety of perspectives to identify a treatable source and take appropriate action
! Ability to work proactively, independently and reliably under tight time frames in a rapidly changing environment.
! Brings enthusiasm and passion into work to inspire others.
! Superior written and oral communication skills including the ability to interact with and present recommendations to executive level management
! Excellent judgment, maturity, and the ability to build consensus across functional groups on controversial initiatives
! Passion for retail, e-commerce and the outdoors industry, preferred
