POSITION TITLE: Bike Assembly Operations Manager REPORTS TO: Director of Fulfillment BUSINESS/COMPANY/DEPARTMENT: 000325 General Fulfillment LOCATION: UFC The Bike Assembly Operations Manager manages and maximizes all bike shop throughput. This person ensures employees deliver consistent, efficient, and accurate fulfillment of bike products, components, and services requiring assembly to our customers in a timely, safe, and organized manner. This includes the fulfillment of both complete and custom bikes, ceramic upgrades, and wheel builds within complete compliance of all manufacturers’ specifications. The manager work will as a liaison between customer service and the build process requiring cross functional leadership and will be a subject matter expert for the fulfillment and receiving team for bike specific product question. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Managing overall efficiency of our bike assembly processes to meet budgeted labor costs and metrics for the bike shop operations
Establish, measure, and communicate daily throughput goals for each Bike Tech by developing time expectations for each type of build (i.e. custom road, stock road, custom mtb, wheel builds, etc.)
Ensure all production activities adhere to consistent build practices & meet all manufacturer specifications to comply with installation of components, compatibility, torque specs, and safety requirements
Train new Bike Technicians thoroughly before allowing them to work without supervision
Ensure that all build documentation is properly completed and included with every complete bike, frameset, and wheelsets
Ensure that all Quality Control paperwork is properly completed and recorded into customer orders
Communicate and help resolve product presentation discrepancies and product build issues with marketing and merchandising
Strictly enforce and adhere to deadlines
Perform quarterly and annual reviews for all Bike Shop employees with appropriate feedback and development plans
Ensures that every bike, frameset, and wheelset is properly boxed for shipping to meet the goal of 0% damage on an annual basis
Coordinate product flow within the distribution center with other DC process managers
Record and track daily metrics and department hours used within shop
Interview, hire, and schedule up to 40 bike shop employees to meet customer demand
Serve in a customer service capacity as needed to explain technical features or issues pertaining to a build to a customer or coworker
Order stock of vital Road and MTB items such as disc brake small parts, ferrules, crush bearings, reducer kits, spokes, nipples, bike shop, and packaging supplies for business needs
Continuously learn best practices in the assembly and maintenance of bikes, frames, and components and educate Bike Technicians
Use hand tools, power tools, & other finishing equipment as needed
Conduct regularly scheduled bike shop department meetings
Maintains a clean and orderly professional work environment for employees at all times
Establish standardized build procedures & work stations within bike shop
Monitor and manage photo builds
Conduct quarterly Inventory counts of shop and shipping supplies
Manage time cards, scheduling, and days off for for your direct reports

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide support to other company departments when needed
Participate in company events

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

! High School Diploma or Equivalent; BA or BS preferred

At least 3 year experience as a high-end mountain and road bike assembler/mechanic as demonstrated by proficiency in the following:
Hydraulic disc brake bleed and set up
Derailleur setup and adjustment
Proper frame prep techniques (facing and tapping)
Wheel truing
Understanding of bicycle fit

3 years previous manager leadership required, preferably in a bike shop or fulfillment center environment
Proficiency with computer programs and preferably, warehouse management systems including general computer, email, Excel, word processing, and Internet
Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task, pay attention to detail, and self motivate
Demonstrated enthusiasm and willingness to work in a fast paced work environment
Must be forklift certified and/or willing to go through forklift certification
