POSITION TITLE: Law School Corporate Legal Intern
REPORTS TO: Deputy General Counsel
DEPARTMENT: Legal & HR
LOCATION: Park City
Join the Backcountry Legal team as a temporary and part-time Law School Corporate Legal Intern. This role will be paid hourly with an estimated 15-20 hours per week. We are seeking an intern with an interest in corporate and litigation work including management of commercial agreements, corporate transactions, diligence, NDAs, litigation and regulatory compliance. This role requires issue spotting, triaging, filing and organization of corporate documents, review of inbound legal issues, and cross-functional collaboration. We need someone who has the judgment to find ways to improve the existing systems, deliver legal resources to the company in the most effective manner, and be ready to take on roles supporting the Legal Team in organizing our records, contract preparation and review, litigation support, IP portfolio management, international legal resources management, and other acute diligence and organizational tasks. The successful candidate will be able to work autonomously, and be able to drive and take ownership of the role and associated projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide paralegal support to the Legal Team on a wide variety of corporate legal matters touching on all aspects of the business, including the company’s People, Marketing, Merchandising, Fulfillment, Finance, and Product teams.
Maintain detailed and organized legal files.
Assist Legal Team in corporate transactions including M&A and other strategic corporate development transactions, including due diligence, closing mechanics, and post-closing integration and administration.
Assist Legal Team with a variety of litigation matters, including subpoena responses, garnishment requests, and administrative actions.
Manage content, organization, and posts to the Legal Team’s company intranet portal.
Coordinate responses to requests for insurance documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Current student registered in and actively pursuing completion of a JD program.
Paralegal certificate preferred.
Strong knowledge of MS Office and Google Drives/Docs.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong analytical capabilities and judgment.
Ability to work proactively, independently and reliably under tight time frames in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work effectively and collaborate cross-functionally, think practically and be solution-oriented.
Willingness to tackle matters outside area of expertise.
