To continue Backcountry’s success and help take our company to the next level, we’re seeking a seasoned Senior Security Engineer. This role requires both deep and wide expertise in the security space, must champion and educate the company on security matters, and lead the charge to continually assess and address potential security risks.

ABOUT THE JOB:

As Senior Security Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to highly secure our e-commerce business by protecting system boundaries, keeping systems and network devices hardened against attacks and securing highly sensitive data. This role is instrumental in maintaining Backcountry’s ability to thrill both new and existing customers, while gaining and maintaining their trust. The Senior Security Engineer’s core responsibilities include:

Help define Backcountry’s security architecture, in terms of technology landscape as well internal and external processes.
Engineer, implement and monitor security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks and information both on premise and in the cloud.
Able to handle/escalate security incidents independently.
Develop technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks.
Ensure that the company knows as much as possible, as quickly as possible about security incidents.
Author security policies and procedures.
Configure, troubleshoot and monitor security infrastructure devices.
Understanding of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocols.
Assist in the maintenance/development of security policies and procedures.
Having a level understanding of business needs, Engineering/IT capabilities, and security requirements to ensure a proper balance is maintained.

ABOUT YOU:

Track record of configuring and maintaining infrastructure security systems at sizable scale; ideally in an organization where customer data and information are critical.
Hands-on technical experience in at least as two of the following: firewalls, WAF, IAM, antivirus, security incident response.Experience with content delivery network (CDN) providers such as Akamai, Fastly, etc.
Worked hands-on with cloud web application and API protection (WAAP) services, distributed denial of service (DDoS) protection, bot mitigation, API protection, and WAFs.
Experience with network technologies and with system, security, and network monitoring tools.
Strong knowledge of networking and web related protocols (e.g., TCP, UDP, IPSEC, HTTP, HTTPS, network routing protocols).
Technical knowledge of operating system security.
Excellent understanding and experience in multiple security domains such as platform hardening, vulnerability management, penetration testing, applied cryptography, network/application traffic control.
Experience with Cloud Computing platforms (e.g. Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, etc.).
Understanding and experience with compliance frameworks, specifically PCI.
Problem solving skills, ability to work under pressure, and must be able to participate in 24/7 incident response.
