The Senior Director, Financial Planning & Analysis will be a key role of the management team and will report directly to the CFO. This role will be critical to the creation and execution of both our long-range plan and current year fiscal year results. They will be pivotal to communicating our results to the executive team and board of directors. The Senior Director, Financial Planning and Analysis will optimize decision making across the company and will be responsible for scaling the finance team through process and system enhancements. This leader will have strategic and executional experience leading large finance organizations, will be an excellent cross-functional partner and a terrific communicator.

ABOUT THE JOB:

Drive the company’s financial planning processes (current year and long-range planning) across multiple locations and business units through cross-functional coordination through rigorous attention to detail, understanding key drivers and KPIs, and cross-functional collaboration across groups and across borders
Originate and develop analyses to help executives and board members better understand financial trends and financial opportunities
Standardize our ROI methodology including developing critical metrics that evaluate performance across our portfolio initiatives and building a robust postmortem analytical process
Develop and implement FP&A standard methodologies in areas such as systems, forecasting tools, reporting, and financial calendars
Set financial targets and budgets for the various functions at Backcountry to ensure we meet our short and long-term objectives.
Partner with Supply Chain and Planning to optimize our inventory management to support our fast growing business
Partner with Accounting and Treasury to ensure forecasts, FP&A work product, and CFO recommendations have a foundation in objective facts and results.
Weave financial rigor, precision, and predictive analysis into Backcountry decision-making
Leverage ongoing analysis to ensure that the company meets its financial goals and make certain executive leadership is fully aware of financial results and trends
Manage the Company’s ongoing forecast process outlining potential risks, and opportunities proactively making recommendations
Develop Executive level presentations, including owner and board decks, monthly Executive business reviews and monthly owner/board overviews
Analyze industry trends and competitor strategies in order to identify and make recommendations on opportunities

ABOUT YOU:

Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred
10-12 years of progressively increasing responsibility in finance or accounting
Previous experience building, inspiring and leading large teams required
Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills are required
Must be an analytical, strategic thinker with the ability to effectively collaborate with various business units
Ability to work cross-functionally, providing financial expertise as a service to different departments
Individual must be able to identify and perform necessary analyses, and make independent decisions to give direction to business partners and to finalize direction on key spending and planning initiatives
Must possess the ability to understand trends and results at both a detailed level and a strategic level, and to interrelate issues between the two
Excellent presentation and communication skills are required
Advanced financial analysis skills
Ability to manage large projects within predefined tight deadlines
