Senior Director of Technical Accounting + SEC Reporting

The Senior Director of Technical Accounting + SEC Reporting is responsible for the accounting functions of the company, including the production of periodic SEC financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards. This role will report directly into the Corporate Controller.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Act as Company’s subject matter expert for all technical accounting policies.
Ensure appropriate documentation of accounting treatment of complex and highly judgmental transactions, including analysis, relevant literature and conclusion.
Evaluate the impact of certain new accounting standards, prepare assessment papers and execute the implementation.
Create and maintain accounting policies and partner with stakeholders to operationalize accounting policies and procedures.
Lead the coordination and preparation of quarterly and year-end external financial reports, including business section, risk factors, footnotes and MD&A for quarterly earnings releases, 10-Qs and 10-Ks, disclosure checklists and related press releases and earnings release scripts
Provide on-going technical accounting training to the finance organization.
Work successfully with internal and external auditors and support quarter end, interim and year-end audits by providing timely & accurate data and communication.
Assist in special accounting and finance projects on an adhoc basis.
Execute all responsibilities in compliance with our SOX 404 internal control framework.
Collaborate with Internal Audit and SOX team on various SOX planning documents

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Solid GAAP and financial reporting technical skills
Previous experience in the DTC or e-commerce industry strongly preferred
Experience with ASC 606 required.
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience
Extensive knowledge and experience in financial statement preparation
Proficiency in NetSuite
10+ years of progressively responsible experience for a publicly traded company or division of a publicly traded Company
Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations, preferred
