United Sports Group is looking for a Technical Designer to support product development for all projects assigned to USB brands with the focus on soft-goods for McDavid, Shock Doctor, Nathan Sports, and Under Amour.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• The Technical Designer owns the Special Makeup (SMU) development & production of seasonal custom styles for pro athletes.
• Manage communication directly with factories to create prototypes, test new applications and refine the product’s construction and fit.
• Develop and maintain current WIP reports and BOM index that result in a daily understanding of each item “in work” with an up-to-date trackable status of each item.
• Manage and drive the development process by transforming a designer’s sketch and tech pack into a commercially viable product.
• Make tech pack updates as needed based on feedback.
• Receive tech pack handoff from Design and oversee all documentation updates and communication.
• Interface closely with internal partners to resolve any design/quality issues that arise during the development process.
• Working closely with the sales team in creating custom items based on existing styles for pro teams.
• Managing materials with sample room ensuring orders can be turned around in 4-5 weeks.
• Review factory prototypes with designer and clearly communication fit, construction and tech pack updates to factories and ensure proper execution.
• Reviewing all sales orders and allocating factory production for custom styles.
• Ensure that the development process meets projects’ key phase approval dates and milestones.
• Manage and ensure each prototype and sale sample are delivered on timely approvals to ensure United Sports Brand quality standards.
• Engage in idea generation, material selection, construction, material sourcing and product testing.
• Ensure specification accuracy.


REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• 3+ years of product development or tech design of sports performance products with experience working with product manufacturers (domestic/international)
• Ability to produce tech-packs
• Product development or tech design experience with softgoods
• Extensive knowledge of apparel construction, product end-use, fit, and garment costing
• Skilled at costing and providing cost updates for their respective categories during the development phase
• Excellent creative skills associated with innovative product design
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator required
• Ability to work well under pressure, to anticipate and troubleshoot issues of consequence to quality and delivery with ease.
• Proficient using MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is required
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Self-starter, team player, strong follow up skills, and sense of urgency
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to succeed within a team-driven business environment
• Demonstrate strong work ethic, reliability, teamwork, and flexibility
• Ability to manage multi-task requirements on a daily basis
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Must be available for a flexible schedule of domestic and international travel (about 10%)
