Job Description

The Social Media & PR Coordinator is responsible for managing all URBAN ARMOR GEAR PR and social media channels, as well as assisting in the creation of digital content. The role will work closely with the marketing and design teams to develop, curate, and distribute our media. This position works out of the Santa Ana office.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

20 % Content Planning
- Manage the Digital Content Calendar, which encompasses PR, email, and social media content based on priorities established by the Marketing Team regarding events, initiatives and content that should be promoted online, in emails, or via social media.
- Coordinate the drafting, refining, and execution of Press Releases with external local and international PR agencies.
- Collaborates with the marketing and design teams to develop integrated plans to support new product releases, tradeshows, and promotional events.
- Constantly generates ideas to improve digital content, and pitch to marketing and design teams for execution.

20% Content Creation & Management
- Assist with website content updates, uploading press releases and relevant information to the appropriate areas.
- Assist with the dissemination of creative assets to appropriate internal and external teams.
- Update and manage a curated library of digital assets.
- Assist with creating digital assets and media with the marketing and design teams.
- Review & manage social media content from sponsored athletes for use by UAG.

40 % Social Media
- Executes URBAN ARMOR GEAR’s international social media strategy in partnership with the marketing and design teams.
- Manage and update social media calendar, coordinating with external Social Media teams to maintain a consistent brand image and voice across all social channels
- Curates & post content for all URBAN ARMOR GEAR social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other platforms that emerge.
- Stays on top of social media trends, changes in the landscape, best practices and recommend strategies to maximize social media exposure.
- Tracks social media metrics, and provides screenshots and reporting for management.
- Monitor and report on competitor social media channels
- Continually improves URBAN ARMOR GEAR’s social media channel reach, engagement and fan base.

20 % Email Newsletters
- Develops content for promotional email newsletters Includes identifying compelling imagery, writing engaging copy and subject lines, creating email newsletters, securing approvals and working with the design team on execution.
- Tracks results and recommends changes and tests to improve open rates, click-through rates and campaign success.
- Identifies and proposes methods to build additional email opt-ins

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate is a creative writer and storyteller with proven ability to develop a brand’s voice across all channels. Also required are attention to detail, good organizational and multitasking skills, professional experience with content management systems and social media channels, and the ability to work cross-functionally with people at a wide variety of levels.

- Two-plus years of professional experience producing social media content, and with building an audience for a brand’s social media channels, plus working experience with digital content management systems
- Dual-minded – highly creative and an excellent writer with the ability to be process-driven and rely on data to make decision
- Collaborative, collegial and resourceful, and willing to pitch in on a variety of projects
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time in an extremely fast-paced environment
- Must have an appreciation for fun and humor, along with the editorial maturity to observe traditional guidelines of accuracy, responsible presentation, quality and trust that are inherent to the brand.
- Passionate about proactively learning and researching new media and emerging technologies
- Experience in Adobe Creative Suite programs, particularly Photoshop
- Photography, videography skills also a plus
- BA/BS degree in marketing or related, or equivalent professional experience
