The IDZ Product Development Engineer – Frame Decoration is actively involved in manufacturing operations, engineering development, and new production releases. Activities may include: design, install and startup of new equipment, introduction of new decoration technologies, or development of new paint colors, patterns and process flow that is utilized with current manufacturing technology.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Runs trials to develop new paint and decorating processes and technologies.
Drives the implementation of new processes in production: Proof of Concept through Production Pilot.
Works with R&D, QA, and production to meet internal qualification protocol.
Learns and knows how to operate all current manufacturing equipment and offers efficiency/innovation ideas.
Writes easy to follow, step-by-step work instructions on equipment operation and process procedures.
Conducts one-on-one and/or group training sessions for these work instructions.
Runs and implements sampling plans, design of experiments, and process control.
Collaborates with global counterparts in Europe to continually ensure alignment and awareness of technologies and development activity.
BS in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing environment
Must possess the ability to perform basic paint or plastic defect analysis, offer technical solutions.
Demonstrate basic chemical, electrical, and mechanical skills.
Lean Six Sigma training
Solid understanding of polymer science, 2K coatings, and industrial paint application
Experience creating and learning from DOE’s, preferably in manufacturing of plastics, organic resins, coatings
Experience using MS Office, JMP or Minitab, AutoCAD, SolidWorks (or other CAD software)
Limited international travel
MS in associated field of study
Experience with Hydrographics (water transfer printing)
Expertise in Materials Science, Chemistry or Polymer Chemistry
Familiarity with SAP and PLM software
Bilingual: English + Spanish
Familiar with Oakley brand/product
