GENERAL FUNCTION

The Product Engineer is fully responsible for Level 2 and 1 activity associated with assigned Post Released SKUs produced on site.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Manages multiple projects: coordination/tracking within a fast paced product development environment.
Leads cross functional team through NPI (new product introduction) process.
Communicates actions, project status, and metrics to cross functional teams and management.
Facilitates/participates in continuous improvement and cost reduction programs.
Evaluates development feasibility.
Develops components/processes.
Creates bill of materials including approval and routings.
Documents master data.
Qualifies internal and external components/processes.
Manages release schedules.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS


B.S. in Industrial, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
3+ years’ experience in product development, new product introduction, or manufacturing/ process engineering
Previous project or program management experience
Knowledge and understanding of high volume manufacturing techniques (injection molding, data systems, assembly techniques and tools)
Knowledge of general surface treatment techniques (painting, plating, pad-printing, etc.)
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles (JIT, Set-Up Reduction, SMED, Kaizen, etc.)
Knowledge of general performance testing (environmental, mechanical, optical, etc.)
Excellent communication skills: ability to interface effectively with coworkers ranging from senior vice presidents to production floor associates
Proficient in MS Office Suite


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


Hands on experience with injection molding manufacturing
Previous eyewear development/manufacturing experience
SAP, AutoCAD, 3D Drafting Software, online product line management tools
