GENERAL FUNCTION

The Maintenance Tech maintains high quality tooling through preventative maintenance, minor repair, and visual evaluation.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Assists in analyzing and understanding mold damage to determine which portion of the repair can be completed internally and which must be sent out for repairs.
Repairs, cleans and inspects molds. This can include, changing pins, grind pins, mill or polish tools, clean tools, changeover molds, diagnose and address issues such as causes for flash, splay, and other issues as well as water leaks and other tool damage that may lead to poor production.
Completes mold repairs and preventive maintenance schedules.
Reduces machine downtime.
Keeps the Tool Room orderly and in compliance with company safety rules.
Assists in the monitoring process to help keep a reasonable component inventory in stock.
Programs and operates Tool Room CNC using conversational programming tools.
Works with Process Engineers and Tech Support to troubleshoot issues or improve tools.
Utilizes CMS to input and maintain records.
Maintains a clean and well-organized work area.
Supports plant manufacturing activities.
Maintains effective working relationship and communication with all cross functional departments.
Completes all work in a safe manner and follows all safety procedures.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as needed.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS


High school diploma or equivalent.
5+ years of hands on experience in a tool room involving plastic injection mold repair or mold maintenance
3+ years’ experience using hand operated tool room equipment
SAP or other CMMS experience
Ability to read and understand tooling drawings
Ability to work under minimal supervision in a fast paced environment
Knowledge of CNC programming
Good verbal and written communication skills
Basic computer skills
Strong attention to detail
Willingness to learn new technologies
Initiative and proactive behavior in work environment
Ability to work more than 8-hours a day, weekends and holidays as needed
Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, bend, stoops, and reaches at shoulder level for shift duration
Ability to lift 60+ pound and stand for up to 8 hours
Continuous movement at work station throughout shift


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


Associates Degree
Toolmaker/Mold Maker Journeyman certification
Prototype Tool making experience
