GENERAL FUNCTION The Sr. Production Buyer Planner owns and drives new product introductions within the optical supply chain. Interacts with internal partners including marketing, engineering and manufacturing to understand material and demand requirements. Works with external vendors to ensure the best value, highest quality and timely delivery for optimal inventory levels in support of production plans. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Plans and procures material requirements for various eyewear categories. Manages suppliers to meet completion dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders. Manages optimal inventory levels while maximizing production plan feasibility. Reviews and processes MRP suggestions. Creates purchase orders to support MRP. Works with NPI planning and Engineers on new releases to ensure material coverage of launch dates. Expedites supplier orders that delay schedules and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions. Develops partnership with local and overseas suppliers. Prepares procurement reports. Takes active part on lean activities with suppliers when applicable (Consignment Inventory, Kanban Inventory). BASIC QUALIFICATIONS BA/BS in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Procurement/Sourcing MRP knowledge 5+ years purchasing and/or planning experience 5+ years of experience in procurement with proven track record of improvement 5+ years managing strategic purchases with proven track record of improvement 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision Strong communication skills Excellent ability to multi-task and prioritize Experience with SAP MM, PP and BW Effective skills in financial, market, and supplier analysis Factual and data driven decision maker Strong analytical background with a proven ability to define and create total cost of ownership models Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software applications such as Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS BA/BS in Business or other related area APICS CPIM and/or CPM certified 5+ years in manufacturing preferably in sourcing, procurement, logistics or inventory management with proven track record of improvement
