The Quality Engineer supports the frame molding and Finished Goods production processes involved in the manufacturing of eyewear at the 5ML (5 Minute Line) areas.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports injection frame molding processes from start to finish, including overseeing NPI, pilot builds as well as regular production.
Maintains a thorough understanding and drives to resolve and prevent NCMRs and process defects.
Takes on ‘cradle to grave’ responsibilities for each of the processes and serves as the Quality specialist within the area, with an in-depth understanding of the full process as it relates to quality goals and KPI’s.
Builds expertise and ownership that can then be translated into improving ‘first pass yield’.
Responsible for daily and weekly meetings, organizing and publishing the KPI metrics specific to the 5ML production area including defect reporting.
Assists root cause analysis as part of cross functional teams to determine corrective and preventive actions that lead directly to improved process yield performance.
Leads and/or participates in corrective and preventive actions using appropriate 5 why, 6M and/or DMAIC Six Sigma methodology to address quality issues and scrap reductions.
Acts as part of a world class team that prevents defects, makes processes robust, and clearly communicates with cross functional groups.
Works on safety and maintains a safe, organized and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Reports safety hazards and work-related injuries to supervision immediately.
Works effectively and collaboratively with others.
Serves as the subject matter expert for quality, in the assigned manufacturing areas.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as needed.
BS degree in an Engineering field
Injection Molding experience
3+ years of quality engineering, process control and manufacturing engineering experience
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply statistical tools and methods to problem solving in a quality or process improvement areas
Knowledge of standard software tools and analysis processes
Ability to drive investigative root cause analysis of functional issues
Excellent leadership & interpersonal skills along with the ability to work with others positively
Ability to travel up to 10% of time
ASQ CQE Certification
Green Belt / Six Sigma certifications
2+ years Injection Molding Experience
