Coastal Urge is a retailer that sells top-quality apparel and accessories to outfit the coastal, outdoor lifestyle. Six locations merchandised with brands including Patagonia, The North Face, prAna, Mountain Hardware, Vineyard Vines, Southern Tide, Lilly Pulitzer, TOMS, L Space, Vitamin A and more serve customers in North and South Carolina. Mobile retail operations extend along the Eastern seaboard. At one location there is an extensive standup paddleboard and bicycle sales and rental operation. The founders started the company in 2008 to cater to like-minded individuals who enjoy spending their days outdoors and want to outfit their lifestyles with premium clothing and equipment.

The Bald Head Island location is a flagship store filled with a unique and premium selection of apparel, paddleboards and beach cruisers.

Job Description:
As the Retail Sales Manager on Bald Head Island, you are a key member of the retail store management team, leading a team of retail staff to deliver on business goals of sales and service. The Sales Manager spends most of their time as an active, visible leader, motivating, directing, and coaching the team. Bald Head Island is a unique island community, reached only by passenger ferry. There are no cars on the island. The BHI Retail Sales Manager serves as the most prominent face of Coastal Urge on the Island, and fosters a sense of community with visitors and other island establishments.

THE JOB:
• Leverages tools, reports and insights to make appropriate business adaptations that result in increased sales and elevated service.
• Acts as an active visible leader; motivating, directing and coaching hourly non-management staff.
• Directs the execution of our core standards and overall visual direction to maximize sales.
• Builds agile, service-focused teams to deliver on the evolving expectations of our customers.
• Drives sales through all channels by maximizing selling behaviors. Capitalizes on all promotional events through successful event execution and staff excitement.
• Delivers inspirational experiences for our members and customers through effective execution of outdoor programs and outreach.
• Aligns with company direction and communicates critical company strategies and changes to teams as needed.
• Recognizes and rewards team members to strengthen engagement and foster teamwork.
• Provides dynamic and regular customer-focused feedback and engages in two-way dialogue.
• Recruits and develops diverse leaders from inside and outside the organization.
