Position Summary:
As our Associate Category Manager (Buyer or Merchandiser), you will be responsible for all aspects of buying; from maintaining optimal inventory levels to finding and negotiating favorable terms with new and existing vendors. The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach to problem solving, exceptional interpersonal skills, possess a general understanding of eCommerce retail, be adept at forming relationships with various partners inside and outside the company, and show true ownership of the brands he/she is responsible for. This position requires the ability to focus on the details while maintaining focus on the big picture. This person must have the ability to make smart and timely decisions in the absence of perfect information.
Responsibilities:
• Bottom line responsibility for the achievement of sales plans, profit margin, turnover, and returns
• Create purchase orders and maintain data accuracy
• Manage timing/flow of product, based on seasonal plans and entrance and exit strategies
• Position department investments to ensure that smart risks are being taken, basic businesses are protected and financial targets are met
• Identify business opportunities and risks in-season through analyzing sales performance and gathering marketplace information
• Manage overall look and feel of category and brands while optimizing the user experience
• Work with multiple departments to ensure products are displayed correctly with accurate content
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere that strengthens the team
• Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions
