686 Technical Apparel is searching for a Technical Designer.

This position requires a committed individual with strong technical skills in garment construction and fit. Be responsible for fitting for all products. Categories include woven, knits, and outerwear. The role requires skills relating to fit and sample development through effective collaborative relationships, with Designers, Vendors and Development.

The Technical Designer will communicate directly with overseas vendors and factories to identify and resolve manufacturing issues. This individual is responsible for the brands technical fit standards globally through interaction with global technical design counterparts. Day to day responsibilities include creating specs, measuring garments, conducting fits on live fit models and adjusting patterns if necessary.

The Technical Designer position requires an individual with strong knowledge of the entire product development process in order to make decisions to achieve the desired results while maintaining positive effects on the business in a complex environment.

Job Duties:

· Lead all fit session and preparation: including measuring garments, checking garment construction and trim, making sure the fit direction was followed.
· Reviewing all Proto sample stages with Design & Development: Fit, Pre-production, Top of production, Salesmen sample
· Effectively communicate fit corrections and comments to overseas factories; able to advise fit product, balance, and construction to factories via pattern diagrams, photos, mock ups, or directly on pattern.
· Update Design sketch when needed
· Keep organized records of template garment specification and/or construction standards and monitor all new developments for consistency
· Manage Quality Control requirements and standards and travel to factories if necessary. Quality Control standards includes fit, features, fabrics, labels, hangtags, finishing (folding, packaging, hangers, etc)

The ideal applicants must possess:

· Strong knowledge of fit, fabrication, and construction across multiple garment categories
Ability to create, update, and maintain blocks and block library
· Ability to clearly communicate fit revisions thru comments / specs / diagrams / photos and review of block patterns.
· Ability to multi task efficiently and flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment
· Excellent time management skills and ability to adhere to deadlines; driven by deadlines with a high sense of urgency.
· Flexible to the needs of the total departments and handles other responsibilities and projects, as assigned.
· College graduate with a Major in Fashion Design, Patternmaking or Technical Design
· 7-10 years industry experience as a Technical Designer for an apparel company
· Knowledge of pattern making, grading and garment construction a must
· Strong communication, organizational skills with attention to detail
· Proficient in Illustrator, Photoshop, MS Word, Excel & Outlook
