The Supplier Development Lead will be a remote based position located in Bangkok, Thailand and reports to the Senior Manager, Supplier Development who is located at Headquarters in Austin, Texas. This will be a critical role that impacts how we develop and research suppliers specifically within APAC early on in our new product development process. The Supplier Development Lead will be responsible for strategically sourcing new supplier relationships and will own the risk assessment of suppliers for all our categories. This will be a highly cross functional and collaborative role working closely with our Operations and Innovation teams including but not limited to; Category Management, Procurement, New Product Development, Engineering, and Program Management Teams.
Define and implement supplier development strategies to improve YETIs supply base to support category growth
Work with the Innovation team to understand the product roadmap in order to analyze and research suppliers early on in the Gate Review Process
Identify suppliers early in the innovation cycle that align supplier competency to product requirements
Develop a supplier launch plan and project schedule that aligns with the category speed to market objectives
Build should-cost analysis and drive out waste to ensure cost targets are achieved
Communicate technical requirements to suppliers
Qualify suppliers for audit readiness and coordinate with appropriate teams to execute audits
Implement, monitor, and report on supplier quality and productively improvement initiatives
Identify suppliers with Lean process manufacturing readiness
Prepare and present supplier performance results to management
40% or less travel within APAC regions
Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or related field
6 - 8 years of experience in supplier strategy or supplier development
Experience working with suppliers in the soft goods industry is highly preferred
Must have current and existing supplier relationships that is applicable to our categories i.e. soft good, hard goods, etc.
Team player with demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals at various organizations levels internally and externally
Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal formats
Demonstrate successful negotiation skills
Ability to work within a highly dynamic organization
Ability to influence without authority
