The Director, Category Management will be responsible for leading a team with responsibility for bringing new products to market. This leader will have category P&L responsibility and will lead a team who has complete ownership of products within the categories they manage from inception to obsolescence.
We are looking for a product leader with strategic vision, excellent organizational skills, and plenty of experience bringing new products to market. Qualified candidates will excel at cross-functional management, organizational communication, and motivating people to accomplish shared goals in a matrixed organization. He/she will thrive in fast-paced, high-growth entrepreneurial environments, and possess superior leadership and organizational skills to manage multiple strategic initiatives to meet business objectives and revenue goals. He/she will possess analytical rigor and can move fluidly from strategic thinking to detailed execution -- you can see both the forest and the trees, as the situation requires.
Work with Innovation leadership to define product strategy and roadmap.
Leadership and analysis of all category management activities, including partnering with Sales and Marketing, driving strategic planning and product definition, category P&L ownership, talent management, and communication across all functions in the organization.
Lead a high-performing team to meet goals and business objectives, including strategies designed to anticipate global requirements while optimizing forecasted shifts in both markets, industry trends and supplier economic cycles.
Maintain constant pulse of market developments, including consumer needs, competitive offerings and brand position.
Drive financial discussions across product categories, including pricing, forecasting and gross margin analysis.
Develop and manage product rationalization and optimization process
Work with the sales and marketing departments to identify opportunities and create solutions that drive sales.
Meet all budget expectations relating to departmental expense, revenue streams, and sales growth
Oversee 3-5 year, long term strategic planning for various category development.
Champion vision for category development, and present the analytical data that supports reasoning for organizational buy in on new product lines.

Qualifications & Attributes:
Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing, or related field. MBA preferred.
At least 10 years of work experience in category management, product management/marketing, and product development within the Consumer Goods/Retail Industries.
6+ years of team leadership experience.
Experience with strategic planning and managing a category P&L in excess of $100 Million
Exceptional skills in team development and mentoring.
Ability to influence without authority and gain significant followership.
Ability to drive teams to meet aggressive business goals and objectives.
Experience with drinkware, outdoor gear or related hard goods strongly preferred
The ability to interact with executives and stakeholders at all levels of organization and deliver effective presentations.
Proven ability to manage competing agendas and priorities, and translate complex information across internal and external audiences.
