The Senior Director of Data Science & Advanced Analytics will be accountable for building and leading a next-generation analytics capability, supporting enterprise-wide applications of analytics and data science to drive business value. This is a highly strategic role that requires executive level collaboration across all aspects of the business. As a trusted partner to the key stakeholders including the CEO, CFO, and CIO, the successful candidate will be charged with building a new organization with new capabilities, while enhancing the existing organization.The individual will establish strategic priorities, design operational processes, and drive the Data & Analytics roadmap. This executive will bring a multidisciplinary approach to this vital role including seasoned business acumen, applied advanced analytics expertise, and an ability to tie data insights into tangible commercial and consumer use cases. S/He will assess the feasibility, business value, and time horizons of Data & Analytics use cases as well as launch pilots while weighing short-term wins with longer-term payoffs. S/He will develop, pilot, scale, and industrialize Data & Analytics use cases in an iterative, agile manner, designing and executing on a vision that is consistent with the organization’s plans for growth and evolution.
Responsibilities:
Lead the overall analytical strategy and agenda for Advanced Analytics and supporting capabilities
Oversee the full suite of analytics being conducted (e.g. customer, digital, consumer, brand marketing, and performance marketing)
Collaboratively develop the Data & Analytics strategy, capabilities and agenda with key stakeholders
Analyze long term impact of new or anticipated strategies and decisions
Serve as an advocate for the Data & Analytics organization
Bridge the gap between Data & Analytics and stakeholders in other key functions (e.g., marketing, finance)
Work across various departments to develop strategic data acquisition and development in support of greater understanding of consumers’ experience.
Provide consumer-driven recommendations to advance growth opportunities from strategy to commercialization
Appropriately allocate resources to ensure that Data & Analytics use cases effectively drive business value
Build a prioritized roadmap of use cases that leverage Advanced Analytics capabilities to drive value
Recruit and develop a Data & Analytics organization, determining the right resources to be able to effectively execute use cases
Scale the organization as business needs increase to drive incremental value
Clearly communicate Advanced Analytics data platform requirements to the development teams residing outside of the Data & Analytics organization
Oversee entire lifecycle of use case development from scoping and designing solutions to scaling from pilot to industrialization
Formulate and define analytics use case scope, timeline, objectives, and implications based on both business needs and a thorough understanding of business processes
Ensure use cases are reasonably scoped and within current organizational capabilities
Lead Data & Analytics teams to solve abstract problems without precedent in an agile manner; contextualize outputs and integrate back into business processes
Pre-emptively identify pain points and resolve conflicts before they escalate
Qualifications and Attributes:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or related discipline (Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Business Management, etc.)
Master’s degree a strong plus
At least 10 years' expertise in data analytics and at least 8 years' of leading data & analytics teams that have delivered business value (focus on applied vs. research setting)
Experience working in an agile environment
Familiarity with analytical tools and statistical methods required for AI / ML based analysis and a clear understanding of the capabilities and limitations of various techniques
Experience scoping and designing solutions and scaling from pilot to wide adoption
Experience building consumer-first analytics capabilities across global organizations
Clear understanding of roles needed to execute on advanced analytic use cases
Able to drive business value through effective communication and negotiation skills
Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure Data & Analytics use cases are properly executed
Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Global, public company experience is required
Ability to mentor, develop and lead teams towards meeting business objectives
Ability to collaborate effectively with others building relationships with key stakeholders across the organization
Executive presence a must with ability to effectively communicate through verbal and written formats
Strong presentation skills with ability to take very technical concepts and translate to business value to various audiences
